Also, for the people that are changing their oils at ~1,000 miles, are you having the service done @ Infiniti, Jiffy Lube/10 min oil change shop, garage/mechanic, or by themselves?

I currently have ~400 miles on my 05 6MT. I'm going to have the oil changed @ 1,200 miles and then FINALLY (I can't wait!!!) hit a RPM higher than 3500.

The local Infiniti dealer changed my oil at 1000 and 3000 miles. They don't care- easy money for them.

I dont get every other oil change free, I get to pay 4 and then get 1 free. I got a card from them where they hole punch some car shaped holes on the card through numbers 1 to 4.

I had it done in both of my VQ engines. The 1st 1000 miles or so in these engies is the most critical time. I did it mainly for peace of mind.

Now about thatdifferential fluid.. What's up with that? How much metal was in the fluid? Anyone else with those findings.

Read this thread....

I'll change the diff fluid again at around 15000 miles. Cheap insurance. LSD's are big bucks. The LSD on my 300ZX is whining now (although it works fine) at 165,000 miles and I didn't change the fluid in it often enough. When I changed the diff fluid at 2000 miles on the new G 6MT, there were a lot of metal shavings. I was right beside the mechanic who changed it for me and I got to see it first-hand. He said the amount of shavings was normal, but it was a good idea to change the fluid.

LOL, I only held the steering wheel while my father drove (in my country, that is not illegal). I had to actually wait till I was 17 to drive it. My father was a hell of a slow driver so the car was excellent. I drove it as fast as I could and everything went OK, till one day the engine caught on fire (after I sent it to the mechanic). Had to replace all 4 pistons, but other than that, I'ts all good.

I'm only breaking the car in just in case for some weird reason I end up really loving my car and decide to buy it at the end of the lease. I know it isn't smart to buy a lease after you made lease payments but I doubt I will buy it, breaking it in is just in case I do buy it.

I was thinking too, maybe if i break it in right, their is a possibility it could help retain a few hp or so. All my previous cars have seemed to dyno between 3-5 fwhp stock less than everyone else and I have never properly broke in a new car.
