That was me. I said that.

does a LT1 V8. 5.7 fit under the hood of the g35 coupe? From a 95 ponti. Thanks

If you're happy with the car having the normal VQ35DE, then that's great for you... but I know if it were me personally, I'd want a motor and exhaust sound that matches the look of the car. I'm a huuuuge car sound guy though, so maybe I make a way bigger deal about that stuff than your normal person. At least the car will be lighter than stock after the conversion by about 400 pounds. That should make it noticeably quicker than a stock G35 even if you kept the drivetrain 100% bone stock.... assuming you don't put wheels on the car that weigh like 95 pounds each.

I just feel like it would be a huge letdown when you see such a nice looking car and then it starts up and sounds identical to the soccer mom's Nissan Murano that is parked next to you. LOL.

Don't get me wrong... I really love the stock sound of our motors and exhausts for our cars. It's a nice sound compared to your common car BUT not even close to nice enough to incite supercar envy.

Keep in mind too that if you ever go to sell the car, I think it would fetch a ton more attention and higher resale price with a sweet motor in it. The overall allure of the car would be that much more, and it would really give a future buyer the feeling that the car was done right and not half-a$$ed, which is very important when trying to sell a modified car.

I agree with Partyman but if HP doesn't matter to you, stick with the reliable stock engine. The thread started with you asking about exhaust and now you are looking at another engine. Stock engine w new exhaust should make you happy since you will be paying for it and driving it. I think the Borla has the deepest sound, and I have heard it in person. What color are you planning on painting it?

Maybe because most here already know the VQ cannot mimic the sound of an LS.

I know that, you know that, but he (Newb) does not. We don't have to make the guy feel an inch tall by replying in such a cruel way. There are ways to get you point across without looking like a dick. That is no way to bring new members here. There are a lot of the "Civic" crowd that are buying G's now because they can afford them and they want to belong to an upmarket crowd. Let's show them what this car is for, and how to mod it in a tasteful way so they don't look like the "fast and furious" bunch of wannabes.

^True, but the majority of this forum is still tame. I haven't seen a whole lot of flamming happening as of recent. The OP was able to differentiate the good answers from the BS. If not, than the discussion would have been steered in the correct direction by the more tempered members. I do see your point with the reputation of the forum and its members which I mostly agree with, the exception being the political section.

All jokes aside, the thread is back on the right direction, it hasn't grown to 10 pages of bickering and there's nothing that warrants infractions. So, no harm IMO.

It will fit, there are some differences but same basic engine. Engine mounts are different though along with some minot engineering differences

Major difference is the LT1 uses a cast iron block while LSx engine is aluminum. Gonna be a heavy engine and very nose heavy car.

I think the LT would make way too nose heavy.
