The speedometer needle started out dimming intermittently months ago. Now it's just dim constantly. I can deal with it but the curious side just wants to know what it is. I gave the clusters a good smack once when they dimmed and they lit back up normal. I don't plan on doing that again. The pic doesn't show it like in person but you can see the difference. What could it be?

 

One of the SMD LED's is probably starting to lift off the board. Unfortunately it's the nature of the beast, those electrical components are subject to constant expansion and contraction from temperature changes.
