G35 “Service Engine Soon” Light not working

So I have an OBD scanner I scanned it and got 2 codes, the reason I bought one was to my suspicions that the service engine light was tampered with. There is nothing covering it I’ve checked and I can see it with my flashlight on my phone but I put the car in the “On” position and it doesn’t come up like the rest of the lights. Help please I’d rather have it on so when I get repairs and it goes away if something happens it will at least let me know instead of me finding out the hard way. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

It's a common practice for less reputable dealerships and shady private sale individuals to break the instrument cluster so the SES light doesn't function. Usually requires replacement of the entire gauge cluster.

You're SURE it doesn't work during the lamp check when you turn the key to ON ?

I'm assuming they just cut the wire to the LED, sounds like it might be an easy fix if you don't mind taking the cluster apart.

I tried to take a closer picture but it doesn’t want to focus enough but you can see the SES letters

Is there a write up on how to do that, and what’s the difficulty on it I don’t like to mess with wires much cause I don’t want to mess anything else up

There are write-ups of people swapping out LED's in their dash somewhere on here.

IMO unless you are skilled at that kind of work and looking for another job my suggestion would be to leave it alone. Just getting to the gauge cluster can result in broken plastic trim. It isn't stopping you from pulling error codes.
