Blew my motor in my 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT. Which motors will work?

Hey guys,

I have been hearing a lot of conflicting information on this.

Will a 350z VQ35DE rev up motor work without any electrical issues?

Will a VQ35DE rev-up for a automatic work with my manual?

Thanks,

Tony

Rev-up was never offered with the automatic transmission. Any rev-up will work, doesn't matter if it was from a 350Z or G35, EXACT same motor.

Check out the pictures in this thread.

The service adviser at Nissan said that mechanically it would fit, but that I would have issues with traction control, abs and other sensors

Find a different shop, that guy is an idiot. People replace engines all the time.

You challenge is going to be finding a revup engine. These were only on manual cars for limited model years: 05-06 G35, 07 G35 coupe (07 sedans had HR engines), 06 350Z, and SOME 05 350Z models.

Because of the limited availability, I've seen people stick a regular DE engine in there and just deal with the check engine light.

Keep in mind the "high rev" is not the same as the "rev-up.

Rev-up was a variation of the VQ35DE that had additional components added to control exhaust cam timing.

High-rev was the VQ35HR motor that replaced the VQ35DE in the V35/V36 chassis.
