Hey Guys, new to the forum and thanks again for including me. I’m excited to be apart of this fam.
2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe. So I’m going 40+ on a street and construction is being done. (my car is lowered), I slow down and dodge one man cover but i don’t dodge the second and hit another elevated one and caught my sway bar, sending it back along with my radiator support (cracking it on the passenger side). The impact set my steering wheel air bag to blow unfortunately. I am not concerned with the damages listed as it can all be replaced quite easily as well. My problem is that now my car won’t start.
I have heard of a airbag fuel switch that stops the flow of fuel to the pump when in a accident however I have not found anything of the sort. I turn my key to the on position and I don’t seem to hear my fuel pump chime or maybe im bugging. I checked my battery with a load tester and my battery is reading a low charge of 4v and my terminals are a bit corroded however I attempted jumping the car and let it sit for 10-15 mins. Nothing. No Crank No Start. I can hear my starter clicking so I don’t think it’s my starter haven’t checked my alternator yet. Another thing also my steering wheel is REALLY hard to turn and won’t fully turn its rotation. I can only turn the wheel to the left about 30 degrees and back to center my steering wheel. I’m assuming my rack and pinion or tie rods and ends to be busted as well.
My questions to you guys are what are my next steps and are there any other smaller things I can check before moving on to the bigger tests like a fuse (both inside/engine bay) ? My clutch position sensor ? My SRS light is solid on, will I need a new SRS module ? How can I properly check my fuel pump other than listening? (I want to rule out that it is a failing pump.) Lastly, has anybody experienced such a thing after an accident where their car didn’t start ? Any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Attached below are some quick pictures I took of the under carriage. Excuse the quality.
Scorpi0 thank you for the response, I appreciate it. So my assumption was dead battery however I just put a new battery in and still having the same symptoms, no crank, no start, can hear my starter clicking still however i’m looking at my terminals and my positive lead has its copper wires exiting from its rubber insulation this might be the culprit, checked my fuses both in the car and out all good other than some brown residue on the tips of some fuses but no broken connections. Will keep this post updated with what I have done.
