Anyone else think the G35 is slow
First I like to point out that I love my G35C. I read so many post in how fast this car is. To tell you the truth I'm not very impressed with torque or acceleration of the car. I car feels as fast as my old BMW328is.
Anyone else have the same feelings as I do? Or have I've done one to many drugs during my college years?

I have the same feeling too. I think it's even slower than my BMW 323is. I have tried to turn off the VDC and it improves a little bit but not too much.

Re: Anyone else think the G35 is slow
I'm with you cake. For some reason it seem my 328is is faster than the G. I don't have it anymore, so I can't really test it out.
On the other hand, my E55 was a v-8, so maybe it true, once you go V-8, you can never go back.
Maybe I should go to the races or something and race somebody. I wonder if the still have races in the Gardena, City of Industy, or Rancho area. It's been over 10 years since I been to a street race.

"Gardena, City of Industy, or Rancho area"
That's burned out now. We now all go to Valencia to race =)
And god it feels good kicking the chit outta some old 1995 M3's and other cars that were fully modefied... Not only is it faster then a lot of the competition it attract's a lot of possitive attention hehehehe... People think I have my car all modefied yet it's stock....lol But we've moved from the City of Industry to Valencia (Not many cops) right near Magic Mountain.

Eddie, i'm surprise you now what I'm talking about when I mention those places. U must be as old as I am. Well not that old. ![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
When I got out of street racing, I think everyone was going to Sylmar?? Is that the one you are talking about? What is the turnout like? Where does everyone meet?

Re: Anyone else think the G35 is slow
The reason we don't chill at Sylmar no more is too many cops...lol Valencia is only a 5 to 10 min drive and virtually any cops =)
We all sometimes chill at a In and Out or a Denny's... a lot of people in excess of 40 to 60 car's sometimes!! It's very nice hehehe....

Re: Anyone else think the G35 is slow
Seems to me that it's a hit and miss game guys. I have driven in my friends 97' 328is and in no way does it seem close to my 6MT. It was great, that silky inline 6 from bmw is great. What I have noticed is that my car seems to be under par sometimes and over on others.
What I mean is some days I'll get in and drive and she'll seem real slow and under performing. Then I'll get in to go home from work and hit the accelerator the same way I did in the morning and WHAM! She'll scare the **** out of me by exploding into an insane amount of acceleration.
It's really weird, at first I thought it was me but it doesn't seem to be stopping over time. I spoke with Yuichi and a guy from Technosquare and both told me that the 350z/G35 ECU is a very high tech and very fickle device.
I think that's why some guys get differant dyno runs even without mod's. I am soon going to be sending in my ECU to be mod'ed and I think once that is done and some of the "intelligent" driver adaptation is removed that I will see more predictable performance.
Funny thing is my friend whom bought an Audi A4 last year said they had similiar issues with his car till the second generation. I really think there some bugs in the ECU and once we can get them fixed the car will be a much more reliable performer and more easily modded. Just my thoughts. Peace. Re: Anyone else think the G35 is slow
Yeah. They need to can that adaptive crap and just produce transmissions with two modes.. normal and sport, and a button to switch between them. (Maybe add a "winter" mode if you like.)
But you're right about the changing. Sometimes I'll floor it and feel like it's lagging. Other times, I just hit about 3/4 throttle, and it pins me to my seat, and I have to let off a bit because I wasn't expecting it.
You definately have to shut off the VDC for play time, though.
