Fatal Car crash invoving a G35 Coupe

"A single car crash on Highway One has killed two men. Just before 2am their car slammed into a ditch near the Willingdon on-ramp and burst into flames. Witnesses say the flames were so hot they couldn't even get close to the burning car. Even after emergency crews showed up and extinguished the fire, cutting tools had to be used to remove the bodies from the wreckage. Police aren't saying what caused the crash but according to witnesses the driver was clearly in a hurry. Just minutes earlier he was spotted driving a white G35 Coupe erratically along 1st Avenue in Vancouver."

wow, there are so many coupe drivers got into fatal or near fatal accidents lately. Just last week in Orange County, CA, A G35 coupe crashed and flipped over on the South 5 just passed the 55. The driver and rear pax died instantly and the female front pax was ejected and died later. A month ago in Cypress, CA, a coupe was racing with a Mustang and crashed. It also caught on fire.

ummm, I hope these fire are cause by very bad accident and not because of bad design.

It's always depressing, and sobering, to hear these tragedies. Drive safely, please.

You know thats funny you say that, because when I was in the process of installing my supercharger in my 04 coupe, I noticed the main fuel lines are located on the front passanger side inner fender (between motor and fender)
And there are like quick connects that connect the lines from the body to the motor. All it takes is like one hand to undo it. That had me worried.

Hmmmm. Racing on public roadways without training or safety gear. Not too smart. But nature has a way of weeding that out. Its when innocent bystanders are taken out that gets me all torqued.

As far as fire. Fuel pressure at the injector rail is not low. There is a fuel cutoff if pressure falls, but there is still enough there to spill on a superhot exhaust and flash.
Combine that will a bent or missing hood and all the fresh oxygen, and there it goes. It really doesnt take much for an engine bay to ignite, hence the fire suppression systems in racing.

I was riding with an idiot friend in high school while he burned his firebird to a husk after he screwed with the timing and it backfired into his oiled foam Edelbrock air filter. It was a flaming inferno in 3 minutes. If you see that and have no extingusher, just walk away and break out the marshmallows. Its over.

I agree....I'm glad an innocent bystander did not get hurt. As for the coupe and occupants...what can I say?...I feel sorry for their loved ones left to deal with the loss.

I had a bad accident with my old prelude. I always wear my seat belts and almost never answer to races on the streets. Just because you have a fast car doesn't mean you must drive fast.

I hope they RIP

Saw it on the news last night. The car was in a ball of flame, like I mean over-the-top Hollywood blow-em-up fireball from heII. Then I noticed a faint outline of the grill, lights .. and OMG it's a G coupe!

Very sad. I understand it was driven by some inexperienced young students: too much car, too much speed.

I think we'll see more of this as America emerges from its high-powered rear wheel drive car hiatus.
