This Sucks!!!

Ok I am a MESS!! I got may car 2 months ago and it was 2200 miles on it.. One day I got done driving and when I pulled over put the car in neutral ( 6MT ) I heard a swarling noise.. I was like ok so I pushed in the clutch and it went away but when I released it it did it again.. my face droped.. So i take it to the dealer and that day I get a call.. We will have your car till next week.. I was like next week!! he said yea we are going to replace the whole trans!! I said WHAAT!!! It has 2k miles on it WTF!!! Then he tells me the people in cali want to see my trans and find out what went wrong and why this happened so soon.. I am sooo bumed right now.. I miss my car soooo much but will it ever be the same again... will I ever fell good about it??? I dunno this sucks sooo much.. I think I need to complain to someone about this is there anything that I can do??

Re: This Sucks!!!

For some reason I was really bummed I didn't get a 6mt... With few problems adding up here and there it's making me feel kinda good I stuck with the 5 speed auto. To think the only reason I got a auto version was because I didn't wanna wait for 3 months to get a 6mt... Oh yea and traffic... Sorry you're having a major problem with your car man... I guess it's a "1st generation problem" so they would send it away to make sure the 2004's get corrected and fixed so it wouldn't happen to anyone else in the future or something... In a couple years I'll probably trade my car in for a 6mt because it seems if I did now I would or affraid I would have problems... This is my first auto car and I'm pleased with it and my sadness for not having a 6mt has virtually gone away...lol

You should probably type up a letter to the district manager or something...

Try to get a discount or I dunno...

Re: This Sucks!!!

Nothing you can do, only find some consolation in the fact that you are not the only one. Several members now, you included, have had to have their 6MT replaced. Keep in mind though, that only people that have had issues post their frustration, so we don't have a accurate % of defects versus cars sold. Some are actually on their 3rd tranny with that one starting to act up.
As long as they don't scratch anything and such your car wll be as good as new. Keep us updated and good luck.

Doesn't matter if you replace the tranny or not. The noise is going to come back. This is normal. I have ask and listen to other 6mt's and to see if they have that noise. They did. Basically when the clutch is out their is friction on the throwback bearing causing the noise. You can barely hear it out in the open, but like in my other posts if you park the car in the garage or near a wall where it will amplify the noise, you can hear it very well.

Re: This Sucks!!!

That is correct but they would not change the tranny for a bad throwout bearing. All they would have to do is change the bearing and send him on his way. Must have found something else to go to the trouble of replacing the tranny.

Very sorry to hear that. I think it's a load of crap that all these problems are occuring, I myself am having trouble with my 5AT G. They keep giving the first year of production bullsh*t as an excuse. Well if you know better, you shouldn't have released the cars for sale until all the bugs were discovered and taken care off.

But still, unlike Eddie, after hearing your story, I still want a 6MT though

"I myself am having trouble with my 5AT G."

What type of problems are you having with your 5at bro?

I thought I had a few problems with my 5AT a while back; however, I resetted my ECU and all the shifting problems went away. Car seemed to shift faster and more precise... Try that and tell me what u think..

wicked, forgive me if I've got you pegged wrong, but aren't the one who told me awhile back when I asked about launching the AT that you torque-brake at 3500 rpms to get a good launch? Have you done that on your G?

Re: This Sucks!!!

Damn I think if he reved it at 3800 it'd cause you to deffinatly spin out... Try 2800 rpms though for the best take off in an auto...

Eddie: Not with the transmission itself, but with the window and squeaking/grinding breaks

JDMan: yep, that was me.

Re: This Sucks!!!

I know moving parts make noises im not that dumb.. But it is louder sometimes and twice it made a loud thumping noise.. Now that is not normal.. I dont expect the tranny/clutch/flywheele to be perfectly silent but a consistant noise would be nice.. Plus i told them what I heard and they said after drive they heard what i was talking about and a new tranny is what they said.. Im not nutz iv had some other problems with the car ex. my seat squicked they fixed it, my window made a grind noise on 1 side they fixed it, and last but not least noise from my sunroof when closed they thought i was nutz but when they checked it out there was a bolt loose after they tightened it the noise just went away.. So this is why im realy upset 2k mile and 2 in the shop with 2 diff trannys .... Is there anything i can do what is the lemon law in NJ??? This is just not fair....

Re: This Sucks!!!

I think it's 3 repair attempts in NJ. Since malfunction of the tranny can be a result in death, it is considered a Lemon. I highly suggest you get a free consultation with the people. Try 1800-MY-LEMON, just tell them your situation and they will tell you right over the phone if it is a LEMON car.
