5at

hello to everyone. nb here with a quick question. i have an '05 5AT dg coupe and i've had my g for a few months now. well, i never really touched the manual shift mode until recent. my question is can you shift from automatic to manual shift (and back) during drive, or does the car have to be completely stopped. if so, will it damage the car (engine, transmission, etc...)

I haven't driven the G35 auto but I can tell you that you can always go from auto to manual shift.

Sure you can, I wish the 5AT was anything like the SMG II though. It would have been 10x more fun to shift.

I'm with her on this one! I hope in the future the MM would be like the new M6.....OMG...talk about pleasure overload!!!!.....they say the shifting is virtually seamless and instantaneous....

The SMG II isn't instantenious, but you can adjust your shifts to be neck-snapping. It feels like a true manual car and then some. It's virtually impossible to tell if it's an SMG or stick from the outside. Whenever you're not in the mood, you can just leave in in drive mode and set the shifts to be softer. Throttle modulation is the tricky part, but once you get used to it, the SMG is amazing. I drove a 5AT coupe today in hopes of getting a similar feel in the G when in MM, nope.

You can switch from auto to manual while driving. You dont have to stop. Thats why when you switch to manual is goes to 4th gear, so you can always switch over while driving no matter what gear ure in and the car wont jump.
