I've got some question about the G35 coupe, so I want to ask you guys...

me and my friends were debating about straight-line performance
and the cornering performance between '05 G35 coupe 6mt and
'05 Porsche Boxster S and Merc SLK350 with AMG pkg.
we talked on comparing these as all stock..

my friends say G35 at LEAST is on par with those porsche and merc
on straight-line drag, and they said nothing about cornering performance..

I said that G35 would beat Merc SLK350, but don't know about Porsche.

So here's the question : Do You Guys think G35 6mt with 298bhp
wins on those 2 i've mentioned before on straight-line drag racing?

Did anybody tried on doing thing?
I will wait for you guys' answers whether it's your prediction or did it for real.

I have a Boxster S and a G35 5AT. Boxster S handles unbeliveable, and like nothing else I have driven. The Boxster S is a manual, and my G is an auto, but regardless the Boxster S will beat it off the line. But hey, the Boxster S is also a lot more money than the G, but I love both cars.

 

G will be smoked by those two cars. No doubt about it. New engine from SLK350 is DOHC, unlike the old SOHC. Much more powerful and higher revving. If it's an older generation SLK320 and Boxter base , it will probably be good match and at the end, will beat the two.

 

First of all, a SLK350 with AMG package is called SLK55.. the G doesn't stand a change with that car. Even a regular SLK350 does 0-60 in only 5.4s (5.5 for the auto), which is faster than any number registered for a stock G.

 

The SLK will definately hurt a G...
However my friend has a Z and practically ate a Boxster alive(non traffic)... So I would think a 298HP G could do the same atleast. Could be wrong though

 

I meant SLK350 with AMG suspension Package which contains body spoilers and 18-inch AMG wheels. Anyways, so the conclusion is that G won't be able to beat those two I've mentioned before? Thanks for your input.

 

Was it plain Boxster? or Boxster S....

 

Base Boxster, yes thats deffinetly "possible", a 5AT and a boxster have about the same 0-60 (5.9 secs) - Boxster S has a 0-60 of about 5.2. 03/04 6MTs had a 0-60 of around 5.6, while the 05's are like high 5s. But hey, while it seems like we are all quivering over 0.X seconds, its more than you think in an actual race..
