MP3 CD Changer

Driving home the other day, all of a sudden the CD Changer/Head Unit in my 04 coupe decides that it doesn't want to play CD's anymore. When a CD is inserted it tries to read it- skips to the next CD- and eventually gives up saying "Check Disk". It won't play any CD's anymore now no matter what I do. Since I only have 5k miles on my car, I assume this would be covered by warrenty.

What I'm wondering though, is if the 05 head unit is compadible with the 04 coupe. The 05's head can play mp3 cd's whereas my 04's can't. If they are compadible maybe i can convince the dealer to charge me a bit extra and give me the 05's but still take it up under the warranty. So are they compadible? Or is there something else you would recommend that I do?

the headunits are pretty crappy. Many people on this forum have problems with them. As far as getting a new one, just tell them you want a new one. It should cost them about the same either way. If you're cool with your service tech, he should do it for you. Don't mention paying more unless they do, then try to negotiate it down.

yeah, good advice, though what I wanted to make sure was that the two years head unit button holes and such in the dash peice line up exactly. I saw some people have bought the skylines dash peice to give em standard din access and upgraded to other stereo's, but that's a little out of my budget right now. So could they just drop in the 05's head with no problems?

The 05 is 100% incompatible with the 04. I cannot find the thread, but there is one that describes some of the problems. The plugs are the same, and you can change stations, but there is no sound, no nuthin'

Really? I never knew that. If that's the case then forget about switching.

Palm beach infiniti told me that you're wrong, im about to call again to double check tho-- I have the left speaker problems... Normally getting anything extra from infiniti is a bullet to the head--

Price for '05 rims with tires = 1390$ a tire.
