Inf, good luck with the car man. Variety is the spice of life and that applies to cars as well. I wish I could get a new car once a year, I'd be sampling everything...American, German, Japanese. etc...

I'm sure in year or two there will be bigger and better things than the GTO and G35...maybe the new Gen Lexus IS 350...or the new gen G35.

Enjoy the GTO !

plus, mods and insurance on the m3 are more expensive vs the GTO.. I think I heard the maintenance is expensive too..

You like the design of the new 3 series? The M3 will look like that pretty much. Many people dont like it. Anyways, even if it doesnt look as good, it will defenitelly be faster!

YES they are but, first 48/50k's scheduled maintenance are on the house, even the 1200 miles service which include oil change of transmission and rear diff! not to mention the brake pad and rotors, eventhought they will only do oil change every 12000 miles .

Congrats on the GTO! Enjoy it, that V8 should be a lot of fun. I'm going to be going American V8 power by April as well. I'm planning on getting the Dodge Magnum SRT-8. We have our second child coming and I'll need the space of a station wagon. Only difference is I'll be paying off the G and keeping it. I'm selling my wifes '98 Beetle and my old 4X4 Suburban to make room. I've read the Magnum does the 1/4 in the mid 13's , so that should be fun when the new baby is not in it.

Later,

Ray

INF... congrats on your purchase, sad to see you leave the G behind, but I do respect your choice to do so. I notice you want to sell your car a few years down the road... being a previous owner of domestic brand cars myself, your residual value will take a beating, yes the styling is a major part of that, because if dealers can't get someone past the looks on a used car they probably won't test drive the thing.

But since you are thinking of selling to a friend then you should be good. Hopefully KBB - Kelly Blue Book, is nice to your car a few years from now. I think they are Domestic haters IMO.

Anyway, good luck and enjoy the car.

That's funny I'm picking up my G35 tomorow and I'm trading my 05 GTO because I find myself very short on brakes at high speed.
For you to know I paid $32000 for an 05 GTO 6spd and I got $25000 in trade with 900 miles.

Sorry to say it but that's not unusual. You lose a big chunk of money as soon as you drive that car out of the dealers lot, especially when they're giving incentives on the new cars.

Enjoy your overpriced and underpowered Nissan.
LMAO. Look at GTO's resale value = horrible! Why? Because it is overpriced. With GTO's interior and styling, I might as well drive a Civic and mod it, it will be faster than GTO in straight line for less price, and still looks better than the GTO. It is hard to find a car on the street that look as uglyas the Pontiac these days. I will never look at the Pontiac but my G is still getting tons of looks and admire. I believe most people has different point of view than you my friend, it seems like everybody think GTO is overpriced that is why it can't hold its value. And why did G35 win so many car of the year and top ten motor for so many years if it's overpriced? Hum, when is the last time I see GTO being nominate for car of the year? I do see Pontiac participate in lemon of the year quite often though. LOL

wow, so many haters..lol.

first of all, goodluck to you on the new purchase man. screw those who bash on u.. its your car, your money, your life..do whatever that makes you happy!

i agree with some of the comments made such as the GTO been boring looking and all, however, its still a great car for the price.

one funny thing i dont get is that everyone is WOWing over the C6, yet, they are using the same damn engin (6.0L) as the GTO, yet everyone is making fun of the GTO on using that same engine and how it doesnt put out much power. one thing peeps forget is that the larger size of an engine (displacements) doesnt always mean putting out more HP. sometimes it's designed to put out high torq. look at the BMW engines (which i love, no doubt... bimmer fan), they use small displacements (3.2 on the M3 to put out 333hp, and 5.0 to put out 500hp on the M5) to achieve high hp, however, they sacrafice on the tq deparment. look at the torq number they put out!! thats the diff. between the american cars and the others. american cars use high displacements to achieve high hp AND alot of torq. i think everyone have heard of this quote "there is no replacements for displacements".
you see small 4 bangers put out some great hp..such as honda.. yet, they are very very low on torq. look at the VQ engine. its using 3.5 litters to get ONLY 300hp, and the bmw M3 is using 3.2 to achieve 333hp. are you going to make fun of the VQ too? but then, u prob realized that it's actually putting out MORE torq than M3s. thats where the higher displacements went.. the tq dep.

i test drove a 04 GTO, which ONLY put out 350 hp. its surprisingly comfortable, handles well, and the overall built quality inside the car is alot better than i expected from an american car. the power is no doubt there... and i wouldnt be surprised that the 05 is even more of a blast to drive.
however, for me, i wont buy a GTO for the simple fact that its too plain for my taste. i love power and would love to drive a V8 with high hp and tq..but personally, 300hp is enough for daily use. if not, there is always FI to go after and so on. looking at both cars as a whole package, i like the G35 more...altho, each has its own adv and disadv.
enjoy what you drive cuz there will always be peeps faster than you out there!! its not always about speed and how much hp you have. if so, everyone will be driving a heavily moded civic and smoke vetts and even Ferraris for lunch ...lol!

out like your G35..lol

peace!

Well, yes but that is just excessive! I look up the 05 coupe 6MT with just the basics and the trade in value is $32,725. That is pretty darn close to Invoice. So yes, it is unusual to lose $7K for 900 miles!
