Oh. I guess I missed the "good natured and upbeat" part. Talk about getting off on a rant. You have posted two lengthy sarcastic replies to my merely asking if the BMW 540 in an earlier post was an automatic or manual.

Actually, I agree wih you in most respects. The G certainly offers better performance than the BMW's in its price range. But who ever started this topic was specifically asking about 5 series BMW's. A good comparison to the G35 sedan, but to compare to the G35 coupe is "apples and elephants."
That said, don't go racing any 540's for pink slips.....

 

Personally the only Beemers that i think are worth teh money start with the letter M... One more thing, its a question actually. how does the sedan auto fair with an auto coupe?

 

You forgot the Z8 man that is using the M5 engine v8.

Personally, if I'm gonna spend enough money to buy a house, I'd rather have the Mercedes SL600. OK, maybe it's more than a Z8... but if you're in that price range, who's quibbling?

Didn't think they even made the SL600 now. Only SL500 and SL55 AMG, neither of which are cheaper then a 2002 Z8. New 2003 Z8 is going for 130K!!

 

The new E55 is only 80k and 0-60 in 4.2. That is what I would have. Benz as fast as a Viper.

Oh, it's gorgeous... I'll give you that, and I'd give my left nut to own one (but who'd give me 80 grand for my left nut?)... but all things considered, I don't believe it qualifies because of the above constraints.

Nah, for me (and of course this is personal taste), if I'm dreaming, it's the SL600 - or a 2002 Viper. I'm appalled at what they did to the new Viper... They took all the unique styling away from it, and made it a Dodge Corvette! No thanks!

Want a fast convertalble an old body CLK55 conv with the AMG engine.

 

The new SL55 is pretty stout - something like 490 hp and 500+ ft-lbs of torque. It's also incredibly beautiful to look at, but the price tag puts it in the entertainer/athlete/corporate officer realm..

If I had the money, I'd probably try to get a new E55. That thing's supposed to be very fast.

Why are you comparing it to a 530? 530 has less hp than a 03 honda accord. it's slow piece of [censored]. if you want to compare at least do it against in its class. A coupe not a four door. btw the m3 will haul g35's *** at price of 540.
