Sounds like we might have another year.
He declines to describe specific changes to the G35's new styling, but says, “We understand what we have is a really good thing, and we're going to be careful with it,” indicating the '07 G35's looks won't be too radical a departure from the '03 model.
Historicly Skyline spans about 4-5 years per generation. The V35 Skyline first debuted in April of 2002, which means by the 2006 we should be seeing the next generation V37 Skyline. I am guessing the next generation Skyline/G35 will be based off the next generation FM platform that underspins the GT-R.
With the introduction of the new BMW 3 series and Lexus IS, G35 is losing ground slowly. Actually the G35 has aged very well in the last 3 years. I hope Nissan studies the new 3 series carefully and take their time to formulate a winning formula for the next gen G. Personally I am more eager to see the next G35/G35C rather than the GT-R.

Although I am no marketing expert, I seriously doubt that Nissan would release the GTR and a redesigned G35 in the same year. The 07' G35 will have changes, but nothing more than the changes we have seen thus far year-to-year. This is just my opinion.

G35 sedan is still selling better every year than the previous. As for coupe sales, they always slow down after the initial hype. I don't know if you guys remember but before the coupe came out (summer 02), Infiniti projected sales of 12,000 cars a year.

The term "next generation" usually indicates significant changes. Otherwise, it would simply be considered the updated '07. You'll notice that the next generation term has not been used to describe any of the updates between the '03 and '06.
Releasing the next gen. G35 in the same year as the GT-R debuts is a great approach. The interest in the brand that the GT-R will bring is going to be huge. Fact is, at $70K, Infiniti needs something besides an 'old' G35 to satisfy buyers who can't afford the GT-R. Regardless of changes and how we (as current owners) view them, I think G35 sales will increase with this next gen. model, simply because of the clout that the GT-R will bring to the brand.

Wow, I figured that this was the last year for this generation of the G35. I hope that they do a really awesome job on the new gen, and improve the G even more. Can't wait to see it at the auto show when they debut it. Hopefully they will make it more sick than it already is. I am guessing that the next gen will be well into the 300+ hp range.
