I see a lot of posts here about how someone raced this car or that car and the replies are getting me down. It seems the G isn't that fast because if the writer says he won then usually he gets replies like "You're dreaming!" or "Stop making up stories." So I would like an opinion poll of how well everyone thinks the G will do vs these cars. Now this is just based on stock cars, no enhancements.

So how would the G do vs:

Acura TL Type S
Corvette Z06

These are the cars that I think are in or close to the G's class and would give a good race. I would just like to know which of these cars would smoke the G and which ones can the G smoke or would it be a close race between the two. Thanks for any replies!

 

I don't know about all of them, but it would be close with: GT, IS 300, RX-8, WRX, BMW 330. The corvette Z06 or even the standard corvette would absolutely destroy the G35.

 

Not sure about all the rest but my stock 2000 VW Jetta GLX took out an IS300 before I traded up to a G. So I'm pretty sure the G can rip it a new one.

i am not so sure about the race between the gt. I have a G and a 01 stang gt. friends and i go racing all the time and it is usually pretty even. the only mods to the gt are exhaust and intake.

G has intake and pulleys.

i took an IS300, and please. i had his girlfriend laughing at him all the way to the next light....

no clue about the other car....

No chance against a cobra, though. They put down 450 to the wheels with pulley, chip, exhaust. The 94-98 gt's were dogs, coupe could easily take one. The newer gts have a better HP/torque band due to the larger displacement/V8. Maybe with some mods a coupe could take one.

 

only had intake, sebring tuning exhaust, and a few other things my bro had done to the car, as the car was a hand me down.

With a blower you'll still be 40+ hp (based on dynos of Stillen - 312hp at the wheels or Grubbs ATI ProCharger ~300) shy of a stock Z06 and outweigh it by ~350 lbs -- YOU'LL LOSE!

Any LS1 powered F-body or Corvette will eat the G35 with equal drivers, all cars being stock. My LT1 powered auto Z28 with bolt ons (mid 13's) was considerably faster (.5-.7 in 1/4) than my G35 6-speed and it lost to most stock LS1 f-bodys (low 13's from the factory). Until I see mid 13's out of a G35 you'll lose to the cars I mentioned, at least in *real* 1/8 or 1/4 mile running against equal drivers.

Unfortunately, no a coupe will not take anyone with a supercharger on it. Especially not another modded car. 300-320 at the wheels is still not enough to take on many of today's muscle cars. A 2003 cobra puts 360+ to the wheels STOCK. It weighs slightly more, but not by much. (If you couldn't tell, I come from a long line of mustangs) Don't get me wrong, I love my car (sedan) and the coupes-- they are exceptional performers with tons of class, power, handling, and bang-for-the-buck, but they are by no means the best sports cars out there.

 

a lot of you are confusing what u bought. You bought a 30 grand GT sports car. It is not an all out prefomence car. The G was not created to take down a mutang cobra or a Z06. Last time i checked we had 6 cylinders and they have 8. I also have noticed a lot of post like ur dearming and come on man its a WRX. Our car is fast and i think some of u need to show a little faith in our cars. A G sould take down most of the cars in the list u put up. I keep reading post about the WRX and the EVO. I understand they are fast cars but there not that fast. It is a drivers race except against a STi were it will win but against a normal WRX we can win. Also the mustang GT are fastbut we will still win. I raced a auto GT with exhust and intake and i am a stock auto G coupe. It ran a 14.8 and i ran a 14.2. There not that fast. SHow some faith in the G
