You should post in your regional section. You will get a better response.

Antonio,

The biggest problem that I can see is that the lower mount is completely different with the AWD version versus the standard 2wd version. The standard shock uses a lower clevis that is attached to the shock while the AWD version slides into a lower bracket to clear the driveshaft. Also, one of the brake line brackets looks different as well though not as big of an issue.

While still not impossible, the cost to do a set of new fronts will be expensive because of this and will also likely require a set of factory front shocks (working or not) as a donor for the bottom mount. If you want, I can still check into pricing. Thanks.

Gordon
Did you decide if your gonna send him your factory shocks yet?

ok, i finally got a price. i got quoted $500 for the work plus whatever it cost me to send them a pair of donor shocks. now where can i get a pair of new or used g35x front struts at a cheap price. the cheapest i found is 100 for each brand new from g35parts.com. i'm more then likley gonna go threw with it, seems that noone else is gonna make struts for us so might as well get them custom. hope its worth it =/

Nice. Keep us updated. Question, After you ge them back does that mean that Koni is going to stock these or are we going to have to go through the same process?

03'Sedan Lowered

I finally did it!!! I was really concerned about losing my stock ride. I used TEIN
H-Tech not too low and the ride is close to stock. I'm an old fart compared to most of the G-Owners with MODS. I did not want to spend too much money on additional suspension upgrade...I'M HAPPY
P.S. for those living in California contacts Nina or Golf at www.GT-Concept.com there in Glendale and do good work. MY CAR POSTED ON THEIR WEB...818-291-1999 (Mention Me)

Anybody put OEM 19" coupe wheels on their X?

I know the 19" wheel offsets are different front to back (30mm,33mm) and different from the stock 17" X wheels (45mm?) , but would there be a problem with the AWD system if I put the coupe wheels on with the same size rubber all around? I suspect not, and the coupe wheels are within 3mm of each other front to back in offset. I'm not intending to lower the car, if I do, it will be a minimal drop probably Tien Hspec.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking the same thing, you can have the rear wider. As long as the
diameter is the same. OEM 19 came with 225/40 19 front, you can
change the back to 255/35 19, so all are 26" diameter. I might do it at some point.

^ Yes, with those tires there is only a difference of 1.5mm in diameter between front to back and a difference of approx 5mm in perimeter. I wonder if the AWD system will be able to detect that? If it can then it might think that the rear is slipping since it will be rotating faster.
