Camber is Important

Yesterday I was at the dealer getting an oil change (18K) after my oil change I was told that all 4 of my tires are at 2/32 tread life and my steel belting are showing. I am running eibach pro kit springs and I didn't get the camber kit because I didn't think I needed it for a 1 inch drop. My 2002 Maxima had a 1 inch drop and I didn't need a camber kit to adjust my alignment either. Anyway to make a long story short get a camber kit regardless in the end I would have saved a lot of money instead of purchasing new tires I was qouted 1484.12 for new Toyos I found them cheaper of course but with shipping and labor it still works out to about the same. I ended up purchasing a set of M45/35 sport wheels and tires including tire pressure sensors on eBay with just 157 miles on them for 950.00! So there is a bright side to the story I plan on either mounting my Milanos on the tires or putting the M sport wheels tires on the car with spacers. Those of you with the M sport wheels PM me I need advice on spacers etc...

yea camber is important.. i didnt have enough money to get it when i got my new set of tires and its eating up the tires faster than i thought it would.. so my next mod will def. be a rear camber kit and also go get an alignment..

$1484 for Toyos? That is crazy expensive. I already rotated my tires inside / out but still had a lot of meat on them. Just did it to get an even "UNEVEN" wear. Just curious, what are your camber specs?

Did you get allignment after the drop? Don't how it is with the sedan, but with my coupe on 350z h-tech, i was able to get within oem spec for the coupe. -1.3 degree for the front (which is the limit for negative camber) and -1.7 degree in the rear (which can go up to -2.0). That sucks you have to get new tire, your allignment must off been way off from the drop. Did you inspect the tires yourself? Dealers always exagerate to make a sale.

just get the nitto neo-gens it does help with a little longer life out of the tire and is made for vehicles that have negative camber.

You say you are getting the "rear" kit, what about the front tires? Did they wear as much as the back?

I have a set of "un-revised" 2004 350Z springs I have yet to install (most everyone wants $400+ to do it, so I will do it myself), should I just wait until I get the kit(s)?

+1

Camber does wear out your tires but if your toe is off it will eat them alive.

The sedan does not have as aggressive camber specs as the coupe so I was not able to back within spec with H&R springs but I am close. The trick is to have your tires swapped every so often. Since mine are staggered I try to swap them every 5-6k.

I brought my wheels and tires at the 8K mile mark purchased on eBay the wheels tires had about 1000 mi on them when I brought them. I had my car lowered at 11K miles so from 11K to 18K the tires wore I was told that the front was the worse and the rear were not that far behind. When I got my car lowered an allignment was done and my tires were rotated during my 15K service I haven't checked the wheels out myself or gotten a second opinion yet. I found the eibach camber kit for 192.00 does anyone have experience or opinons on it? I also purchased M45/35 sport wheels and tires with sensors for 950.00 I figured I can either mount my Milanos on the tires and sell the M45/35 rims to break even or sell my Milanos.

You said you got allignment when it was lowered. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't done right after install correct? If you bought your spring new, it takes 2-3 weeks for it completely settle. Just wanted to make sure b/c if you did get it alligned upon installation, in 2-3 weeks your allignment might be off. 7K miles isn't a lot to be wearing down tires, my camber actually didn't get effected much, it was my caster and toe that got knocked off from the springs. I would get a second opinion, take it to a wheel shop, and get a free allignment check.

I have never seen a shop that will do a free 4-wheel alingment check. Most of the time in doing it is in the set-up.

Good idea but I do believe the tires are worn from what I can see visually it looks like I have been driving on the tires for 40K instead of less than 10K. I never paid any attention to it until this week actually. I will get my allignment checked out once my next set of wheels and tires come in. I am not rich don't get me wrong but again I am hoping to recoupe some of my money by selling the milanos or M sport rims.
