I did a bonehead move on my brakes!

So the other day I picked up the car from the shop where he was doing some wire tracing on the HU. After 6 hrs and pulling that draining piece of ****, i was just glad to have my ride back.

I pull off and realize I left my EBrake on for about a 1/4 mile. Now my brakes sound like ****, not a scrapping sound but almost a warped clicking sound. Think I need to have the rotors turned because of this mistake or did I do some major damage to the braking system?

Thanks for any suggestions in advance,

Eric

Let them go for a day or two to see if it goes away.

The e-brake is not related to the rotors like you think. It is a drum inside that holds the inner part of the rotor. So turning the rotors would not help this.

If it doesn't go away you will need to take it to a brake shop and see what they can do for you.

hmmmm, i didn't realize that for the emerg. brake. yep, might have to run it back for him to check it out. Only other thing is that my brakes might need a good doing, have to get the wheels off to tell though. I might just upgrade all four if that's the case. Thanks for the info anyways..

The e-brake is a drum brake on both of the rear wheels. They have nothing to do with the rotors.

Yes the problem could still be with your rotors or pads, just not caused by the e-brake situation.

Actually its not ok.... The heat from the brake warped a rotor on the RR and one on the LR. I'm gonna pick up a new set and upgrade.

Are you sure the brakes weren't already warped. It just doesn't make sense that an ebrake being left up would be the cause of warped rotors.

No, not certain but hopefully the new rotors will take care of it.... They aren't bad enough that they are shaking just have a squeeky, scratch sound under braking under 50 mph...
