G35 Compression Rod Problems
#31

05x with 21,XXX. I had my compression rods replaced at my last oil change because of the creaking coming from front going over speed-bumps and under light accelerating coming out from an intersection. The creak was amplified with cold weather. Haven't heard the noise since.
Replaced under waranty.

I have a 03 and the warranty expires on 3/12. I have been having the problem for over 3 years now, fortunately it has not got worse, I call the Infiniti of Raleigh to have the compression rods replaced and I got a lecture that this is a characteristic noise of the vehicle and there is nothing they can do about it. They said Infiniti knows about (of course when I talk to them they tell me they are not aware of any creaking noise problem). I am pretty frustrated about it, I like the car otherwise, has only 35K miles and don’t want to replace it. Has anybody run on a dealership that refuses to change the rods? Those of you that you have changed them, was it worth the effort since it seems it comes back next winter? Is it worth for me to experiment on my own to try to lubricate the bushings?

See the end of this thread in the Suspension forum. Infiniti has just issued a TSB for the compression rod bushings. They now sell the bushings themselves as the LRU, vs. having to replace the entire rod.
