Homelink w/ Gates

Is it possible to program the homelink system in my '06 G35 to open the gates that are at many of the new apartment complexes? My gate uses a (I think its magnetic) card that is placed on a "reader" to open the gates. The card isn't necessarily "read" or swiped like a credit card, you just need to tap it on the "sensor". I called the company on the gate and they said it is possible but that they don't support it; whatever that means. Has anyone succesfully setup their system and if so how did you do it? Thanks for any insight..

Aren't they RFID tags of some sort? Maybe you should be looking at RFID, instead of magnetic technologies. Does that turn up anything more useful?

Read the instructions/google it. There is a way for the homelink to listen/read the codes from an existing remote.

Insightful Gee Thanks

I already googled, searched the forum, and read the service manual; nothing (hence the post). There isn't exactly any remote, just a card of some sort described above.

I also have the card reader/detector in my condo community, and the HomeLink system won't work unless there's an existing and working remote I could use to program. So far I haven't seen anyone around here with a remote, and I especially hate having to roll down the window on a rainy day, open the gate with my card and get myself soaked

Slightly off topic... but at work I have a magnetic card to open the parking garage gates to get in and out. Is there a way to duplicate this and make a copy? Instead of having to take it from car to car, I would rather have two copies - one for each car. The parking management team will only issue one per person, regardless of how many cars they have. Any ideas?
