The welt is the trim around the opening of the headliner. You have to remove the entire headliner. Take extra care not to bend or crease it, to access the slide where the sunroof shade slides. From there on it's fairly easy.

im thinking instead of removing the whole headliner just one side of it and maybe be able to get the slider out? doesnt seem to bad after all just some clips and screws...hell i might as well do the whole headliner!

i just did mine in suede with the ABC pillars and headliner. Once you get the headliner off, you just pop the slider off by taking a flat head and taking one of the two metal sliders on one side of the slider off the track. From there you can just slide it towards the back of the car without having to remove the sunroof tracks or drains. Install is reverse of removal just alot more difficult to get the slider back in the tracks. Probably took 2 minutes to remove just the slider and 45 minutes to reinstall(i have big hands) best of luck.
