Side blinker mod issues?

I've done a search and haven't seen anyone bring this up, however, I recently did the side blinker mod on a 03 Sedan.

What I noticed was that whenever I used the remote to lock/unlock the vehicle, the blinkers would all blink, except the small marker in the rear tailamp, it would come on bright and dim almost immediately. I am refering to the parking portion of the rear tailamp (side of car) and not the big blinker (rear of car)

Has anyone else noticed this and is the blinker mod safe to continue using?

Thanks.

Ok, I went to the garage to try it... I had the car off with no headlamps on, and had the hazzard lights on.

Here is a vid. It's the smaller blinker light.

Both sides seem to be doing the same thing, I'm pretty sure everything was clean when I did the mod. Could it be anything else?

Interesting find... apparently with the front bumper blinker is hooked up to the rear parking light. I removed the bulb in the front bumper and the rear parking light stopped working.

I'm guessing that there wasn't enough power to light up all 3 bulbs (front blinker/front bumper/rear parking) when the blinker is flashing simultaneously when the headlamps are off.

Is that actually a blinker? I thought it was a parking light, not a blinker.

Mine does the same thing yours does, when the car is off. Running it is just lite up.

It's supposed to be a parking light, however, I guess it's connected to the front bumper light when the headlamps are off. Hence when the front blink, the rear does as well?

I did notice that this only occurs when the headlamps are off and not when they are on.

I decided to put mine back to stock.

If you are worried about it causing some "issue" to creep up on you...I've been running the blinker mod for about 2.5 yrs and no issues have come about what so ever.

happy modding

Thanks for the reassurance... I just found it odd that the parking light would light up and then dim immediately... just seemed odd to me...

Afropuff had this mod affecting WOT on his 03 coupe. Don't remeber all the specifics ( this was awhile ago) but it was a long dragged out thingy with Infiniti which also tied his car up in the shop. Had a master Inifiniti engineer come in from Cali for it and he also had to remove all electrical mods including his non stock sound system.

Bottom line Infiniti said it was coming from his blinker mod.

There was a thread on this but don't know if he mentioned what the final results were.

I seem to remember some catastrophic problem that resulted from the side blinker mod. Reason I have never done it.

I read that a while back in the Fresh Alloy forum, you can find it there. Something about the BCM code, a lot of ppl seem to not believe it was the main cause.

Anyhow, I figured if it was acting funny, I better return it back to stock (until I can find a better way). I've read somewhere that someone actually did it the correct way (with relays), but I can't seem to find out how anywhere.

I've had this mod for 2 years or more and not a single problem. You wired it incorrectly would be my guess. Poor Afro...
