Ya, having a G35X is helpfull in the winter. A few days ago I went out with a few buddies that have AWD cars (suburus and such) and we did some drifting and some 1/4 mile drags and stop tests, all on a frozen/snow covered parking lot that had no cars.

So which car did the best?

My buddy has an older suburu but he has nice snow tires, so he always was able to get off the line faster.

My car just has all season performance tires which are ok, but nowhere as good as snow tires.

That really sounds like a blast, Konsole. Wish I could have been there.

Man that looks awesome to play around in. The little snow we had on the ground was fun for me to do my first ever multiple dounts, it was a blast and then try to recover the car from a spinout. I think i should open a course for non snow drivers to come have fun and see how it works

This is the worst winter yet in southwest Oklahoma since I bought my 04. It has actually done better than I would have expected, especially since it is about the worst possible conditions (inch plus of ice, no snow).

At least I don't have summer tires.

G35x + VDC off =

I love the X in the snow. and yea, drivers attitude is primary factor involved in these accidents. I am sick of seeing SUV drivers running double the limit...and doing so only when its snowing out. for some reason, they believe that the snowfall turns the streets into an SUV prooving ground.

and I dont blame them...entirely. If I purchased a vehicle built and enginered entirely to "weather the storm" I would also be anxious to test it out...and thats why I dont drive SUV's

I just wish people in 4X4 and AWD cars would understand that these drive systems do not improve braking distance in winter conditions. That's why these Jerky's are often the ones involved in winter wrecks.

I find that my RWD G on high performance a/s rubber does just fine in normal snow conditions (2" to 4"). I've gone through snow as deep as 8", but becomes a little slow going because the bumper begins to plow. Without VDC/TC, this car would be a handful in slick conditions.

AWD and 4x4 is great for getting out of that parking spot/ditch....but everything else above 10mph is mostly up to your tires. no matter what "systems" you have on your vehicle. in the end, the good ol' tires are the defining aspect of every traction issue. drive slowly and carefully.

Yea suv's try to show off because they're 4X4, but what happens when it's time to stop for an emergency? I don't think 4x4 will help them out when it comes time to stop

Ha looks like a blast. I'm surprised this pic hasn't picked up any flammers as of yet saying "some dums *** kids just trying to kill themselves again, they deserved to get arrested" or something along those lines.

I finally saw some snow here today in Boston, nothing on the ground yet. Which I am glad. I won't complain to much if I don't have to change to winter tires this year.

By the way, the white car in the snow looks great.

I've been driving in this crap all my life, or at least since 16. Didn't know what FWD was until I was 28, much less VDC. The best place to practice is like you said, a big open parking lot. You might think your just having fun, but you will actually learn a few things. Oh, make sure you tell the cops that story to. Trust me they would rather have you learning in an open lot then the streets.
