2004 G35x lease ... termination

Hey everybody:

I just picked up a 2004 G35x loaded with Navi, Premium, Spoiler, Sirrus SAT radio, Diamond Graphite with Graphite interior. It is a beautiful car! Although the G35x is an awesome car, I have my reasons for wanting to end a lease that just started 3 weeks ago. I know this sounds freakn nutz but I can’t help how I feel. My question to the G35driver community is this:

-Does anyone have any information on lease swapping that could be useful to a newbie?
-Has anyone here traded a lease before?
-If not a trade, does anyone know of a good way to trade up an Infiniti? Say to a FX45 [Tech pkg].

I have checked out online swapping companies like www.leasetrader.com and www.swapalease.com, but I need more info.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Have you tried selling the car back to an Infinity dealer. Remember your car is the G35X it's still a hot car to have. So they might give you a good price for buying your car back. Granted that you still have to pay a little out of pocket it's worth a try. Goodluck.

What's your reason for wanting to part with it so quickly?

I doubt, probably financial reasons.

Dude your bummed. can you say upside down. I used to sell cars and they will buy it back at 2,000 under invoice if your lucky. Then you will lose on your bank fee est $850. and other charges relating to a lease. Do you want to get rid of it because of the lease. If thats the case put some more $ down and buy out the lease or do what your doing and see if anybody will take the car from you. Even then the 2K under rule on newly returned cars applies. Hope that helped

If you are going to "trade up" to an FX45, the procedure would be: find the FX you want, determine leased amount on FX, offer buyout (of lease) on G, if there is any amount due, it will be factored into (increase) the FX lease payments. Basically, returning a lease vehicle is based on the FMV (fair-market value). If what they offer is equal to what's owed, lease is over. If not, you owe the balance. Yes, basically a buy back.

I live in Hawaii and I paid cash for my cars. The example given was based on my last car, '99 Toyota Camry. That's where I learned how lease buybacks work.

Re: 2004 G35x lease ... termination

What you need to do is get a new car below invoice.
Then you can plop the negative over. You will still need to pay the drive off fees. Remember every $1,000 is like 30 bucks so
if you are negative that really messes up your new payment.
Note: If you go to the dealer and want to make a deal tell the sales guy that you want a better money factor on this deal.
Ask him what their buy rate is with the bank,,, they hate that. Another thing I remember from selling cars was people once in a while would come in after a lease deal and say I don't want the car. We would be unable to do anything because the bank now owns the car and it take 3-4 weeks just to process the deal for a payoff. Then I would say you have buyers remorse and that's normal. You bought the car and that should be enough to tell you that it might work. Fall in love with it all over again. I've had people try and return cars because a grocery clerk loading the car said, You should of got a bla bla. Just drive it untill you get a payoff. The funny thing was that they never did come back. In fact I would see
them in service and they would say they love the car. So I hope this aplies. If your in cali go to Cutter Motors in Santa Barbara.

Re: 2004 G35x lease ... termination

Thanks everyone for the massive response. My lease is actually easy to swing at $550 a month for a fully loaded G. I live in Central NJ. My reasons for wanting to trade up to a FX45 is as follows:
- Business deduction for a "truck" versus a car.
- It was my first "true love" in the Infiniti line-up.
- Plan to get an FX45 anyway after I get ride of my other ride (Mitsu Galant).

So to make a long story short what I want to do is:
Swap G35x -> FX45
Sell Mitsu Galant replace with Nissan Maxima

I made a practical decision with the G35x, after all the car is an amazing machine. It has already proven itself battling NYC cabs on the FDR and taking on the snow-covered highways of NJ. If a swap is not possible now I will be a happy man none-the-less!

Thanks

Based on what you just said. Keep the Gx, sell the Galant and then get the Fx. By doing what you said, you will lose too much, the Gx and Maxima will end up costing you the same because of the loss you will take trading the Gx.

Then you will have 2, not 1 AWD cars.

That makes alot of cents... sense. ;-)
I didn't intend to lose tons of money on this car. I just wanted to query this community for some input. Thankfully I have received plenty.

Yeah, what Merlin said. I don't see why you would get the Maxima instead of keeping the G35x. Both are only a few thousand apart in pricing. And I too have the itch to get the FX but instead of getting rid of my G, I'll just wait another year and then I'll be able to keep my G and get the FX. 2 is better than 1 I say.
