35% or 20% tints?
My wife has been complaining that our newborn cannot sleep in the back seat with the sun in his eyes. Instead of hanging some stupid shade on the window, I figure I will just tint the windows. I do not want limo tint(5%) since I don't like the look, and I do not want it too light (50%). What is a good in between? I have a 03 black sedan with black interior. I found some pics on the site, but I am not sure what percentage they are, and I cannot attach them for some reason. I am getting a JavaScript error.

limo tint is 2%, but i say 5% FTW!!!! no but seriously a 20% would be pretty good UV protection(depending on brand) but if u can get 15% it would be even better and its pretty hard to see inside at night.
BTW: ur right, 5% is limo tint, but there is also 2% available, and u cannot c ANYTHING inside. with the 5% u can still ALMOST BARELY(lol that doesnt make sense but u get the point) see inside when u put ur head to the window

IMO 35% is too light. I got 20% on my sedan and it is great, I keep sunroof (shade or cover) open when city driving to avoid getting pulled over. Not sure what's legal in michigan but 20% is perfect, anything lower is too dark on a black on black car. A lot of heat stays out as well by the way.

I did it for the same reason.....we were heading down the coast one summer so I decided to tint for the little ones to keep them out of the sun.

If light and heat is what you are looking to reject, a standard black tint will not do. You will need a metallic paint to reject those rays completely.
I had James Tint (www.jamestint.com) tint my windows, he's been doing it for 30 years. If nothing else, call for his opinion on which film to get. He was telling me of brands I've never heard of (he knows them all). For heat/light reduction, some are better than others.
In regards to percentage, that has ZERO to do with reductions. I remember him mentioning a CLEAR tint out there that blocked more heat and UV than any limo tint on the market. He uses that on exotics and homes as the price is extremely high.
Good Luck.
