Tell me about it. Now I feel like an idiot for putting a random number of carets all ***** nilly. Normally just quote the post, maybe it's the new norm since you can't quote on social media platforms.

How exciting. I've started a thing.

Of course it sort of breaks down if you want to point to a post 12 prior.

That image is from the FSM for the '08 G35. The dipstick in my '08 has the "H" and "L" markings as well (see attachments). I've always read that you want the oil level right in the middle of whatever markings are used on the dipstick, be it "H" and "L", hashmarks, notches, etc, etc and anywhere in that 'range' is fine. If your car takes ~5 quarts but you didn't let it drain fully, that 5 quarts might push you towards the 'high' side but can be okay, for instance. You definitely don't want to overfill which can it to create bubbles (air).

Also, the oil on my dipstick flowed towards the "H" while I got my phone (camera). When I removed it, it was almost a 1/4" below the "H".

My apologies: I didn't realize this was in the '03-06 sub-forum. I've been reading, reading, reading and learning as much as I can and didn't pay attention.

I've been on forums or the like for almost 20 years (starting with slashdot.org, then DSL Reports, and so on) and have never heard of using "^" to refer to 1 post up, 2 posts up, etc !
