Quick Question on Spacers

So I have decided my next mod is gonna be a plenum spacer. Looks like MD makes them the best.

Why do you sedan guys go for the 5/16 more often then the 1/2? I did a search and seems like the 5/16 gives more mid range and the 1/2 gives more top end. Both fit under the factory engine cover on the sedan.

I do see that the 1/2 give alot more engine induction growl sound. Is that true?? sound clips?

Which do you guys think is best 4 a 05 Sedan auto.

I have a 06 sedan and will be getting the 5/16 spacer, which fits under the stock engine cover. Although I took my stock engine cover off and installed a Richie's STB.

I believe the 1/2 spacer will not work under the stock engine cover. I have been told by a preformance shop the 1/2" only gives you 1 to 2 more ponies at the top end over the 5/16 spacer.

I have heard that the 1/2" can rub on the hood insulation.

The consensus you will find on the boards and in your research is to go with the 5/16 spacer.

IMO in a street car it would make more sense to go with the 5/16 spacer if it does in fact give you more "useable" midrange power. If you were building a race car then I would go with the tallest one available.
