Eventually, it looked like 50% of the folks knew something (but not enough to answer the question), 50% didn't but wrote in anyway to give their theory (which was often incorrect) as fact, 50% were confused about the issue, 50%, were waiting for the correct answer, and 50% more (hey, I know this makes more than 100%-- but it makes the point) read the posts waiting to see whose theory would prevail.

The point being, make sure your info is correct before posting a response. If you don't know, say so and move on, if you just want to make a joke about something someone said it's OK-- but don't, please don't, just give your theory without facts. Too many car owners rely on this forum as part of their research before making expensive decisions.

AS THE ORIGINAL POSTER OF THIS THREAD, HERE ARE MY OBSERVATIONS:

I READ A THREAD AWHILE BACK THAT HAD A PICTURE OF A MAN WITH A SEVERE AND DEBILITATING DEFORMITY (TREE-MAN) THAT WOULD HAVE NORMALLY (OR SHOULD HAVE) BEEN RECIEVED BY COMPASSION, BUT THE NUMBER OF HATEFUL RESPONSES AND SARCASTIC JOKES ABOUT THE DEFORMITY WERE ASTOUNDING. SOMEONE ELSE POSTED PICTURES OF 2 AFRICAN AMERICAN GUYS WITH OVERSIZED RIMS ON THE G'S AND THE FORUM IMMEDIATELY WENT RACIST AND THE NUMBER OF RACIAL INSULTS BEGAN TO FLY WITHIN MINUTES. THE LIST OF IGNORANT, IMMATURE, MEAN-SPIRITED, AND HATEFUL RESPONSES ON THIS FORUM IS MIND-NUMBING.

I HAD NO IDEA THERE WAS THIS MUCH AGGRESSION AND IMMATURITY ON HERE: ANONYMITY MAKES FOR A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO CALL SOMEONE AN A$$ OR TELL THEM TO SHUT THE F__ UP, EVEN WHEN THIS PERSON MADE AN HONEST REQUEST FOR HELP OR MADE A SIMPLE OBSERVATION (AND DIDN'T INSULT YOU). IT'S EVEN MADE EASIER WHEN ONE PERSON DOES IT AND THEN OTHERS FOLLOW LIKE PACK WOLVES.

FORUM REFEREES HAVE POSTED THE FOLLOWING AND YET DONE NOTHING, WHICH MAKES IT OK FOR MEMBERS TO INSULT, NAME CALL, CURSE AT AND OTHERWISE BADMOUTH ANYONE WHO DARES CROSS SOME INVISIBLE LINE (DID THE TREE MAN CROSS AN INVISIBLE LINE???):

10.) HARASSMENT/FLAMING
Any harassment of other members will not be tolerated. Name calling, picking fights, etc. Posts of this nature will not be tolerated and can result in the immediate closing or deletion or editing of the post and the banishment of the posting members account. Any insults or harassments towards staff members will result in instant banishment.

SO, YEP, I'LL LEAVE THIS FORUM NOW. THERE'S NO NEED TO RESPOND TO THIS SINCE I'LL NOT BE READING THIS AGAIN, UNLESS OF COURSE SOME MEMBERS FIND IT ENTERTAINING TO KEEP MAKING INSULTS TO AN EMPTY THREAD (MY GUESS IS THAT THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF THOSE). AND I'LL LEAVE THIS UP AS A REMINDER TO OTHERS OF HOW THIS FORUM TREATS THOSE WHO MAY BE DIFFERENT OR EVEN HOW SENSITIVE SUBJECT MATTER (E.G., OMG TREE MAN, THE OVERSIZED RIMS ON CARS FROM A BLACK NEIGHBORHOOD, ETC.) IS HANDLED.

TO THOSE THAT WERE VERY HELPFUL- THANKS A MILLION: TO THOSE WHO INSISTED ON BEING IMMATURE AND IGNORANT, GROW UP!

See ya later cimabeau. Thanks for starting this amusing and entertaining thread. I could do without the caps and the large coloured font though.
