Ive read a lot of the exhaust post's and everyone seems to want something different from their setup, which is good. Personally I want mine to sound like a coupe, just louder. Anyone have something they would say sounds like the coupe? Ive got a Z-tube, HR Y-pipe, Magnaflow mid-pipe, and stock 05 muffler. Its close but too deep. Other than hacking up the rear for the dual setup, has anyone accomplished the coupe sound?

From what I've heard, a cheap way would be to swap your 05 muffler the smaller 03/04 one. Ive heard of lots of people on this board having success that way.

Yeah Ive heard that as well, but never seen or heard a clip.. I will probably try that before too long. I guess there aren't too many sedan owners trying for the coupe sound.

if you find you exhaust too deep, stick with the stock sedan midpipe..
i like mine really deep. so yeah..
im running, INJEN sri, HY ypipe, coupe midpipe, and an universal Megan Racing muffler..
before i ran it with just sri and the megan racing muffler, with the rest sedan parts... was pretty loud..
finally got time to it and installed the hr and the coupe middy and noticed that the exhaust got ALOT deeper... i personally like it because there is alot less drone.. but yeah thats your preference
hope this helps

I'll be doing something a lil different with my setup hopefully tomorrow. Currently I have Kinetix non-resonated test pipes, OEM y pipe, coupe midpipe and a Sebring muffler. Going to swap the y pipe for a straight pipe. From there I'll see how loud and raspy it is and if need be I'll replace the test pipes with OEM cats. Reason for doing this is because my y pipe is messed up...again, for the 3rd time. It costs to be low....literally.

Yeah I dont like that flat deep tone at low rpms, Im just confused as to how the hell the two cars can sound so different. Ive got MD Spacer, Z Tube, HR Y, and Magnaflow Mid, and it sounds great, just havent gotten it quite right. Is the coupe muffler design really that different from the sedan?

I noticed a difference in sound between my 06 sedan midpipe and the coupe midpipe.

It's a lil lighter, i noticed the difference and it makes it have that coupe tone a lil bit. I prefer it over the sedan one...not sure if it's better....depends on what you mean as far as better goes.

OOOO levon.
you gonna get that straight piping from labree finallly?
ahahhahaha niceeeeee~
http://www.meganracing.com/products/...d=300&catid=45 heres the link to the exhaust im using.
and abax... yes theres a pretty noticable difference between the coupe and sedan middy.. the sedan middy has this huge resonator and weighs a ton compared to the coupe middy...
and just like levon said, its just your preference... i noticed that the sedan is louder and raspier, but the coupe is deeper, and less raspy, but really nice sounding towards the higher rpm... sorta reminds me somehwat of a stillen gen1 cattie setup

Just looking for my car to sound like a stock coupe so I'd assume the stock coupe midpipe would be the perfect complement to my car...so does anyone know where I can find one besides the marketplace? Couldn't find one on everythingg35....

About only choice would be a dealer. Riverside Infiniti had them advertised at one time, but don't about shipping. Also Performance Nissan in Texas. I got lucky I bought mine along with the HKS rear from a member.

You just have to haunt the Marketplace and keep an eye on CL. Sometimes you will see a car advertised for sale with an aftermarket exhaust, and if you contact the seller, he may have the old exhaust lying around. The other place to watch is my350z -- a 350 middy is shorter than the coupe unit (otherwise exactly the same) but can be lengthened/adapted easily to fit. That's what I did. Surprised nobody's posted a clip of 03/04 sedan plus coupe middy. Maybe I'll do that after I put my 19s back on for summer.
