Its one thing to purchase a brand name part and install it, most of us do it to our cars, but I give this guy props for fabricating the intake by himself. He might not have any cash but it seems he has time and will to create the intake. Don't tell me you guys wouldn't gloat when you show the intake to your buddies and say: I made that from scratch, as opposed to: I installed it. But def. cough up some pics already.

Some people just like to make things and do things on their own. And some parts simply aren't available for what they want.

8 years ago when my buddy wanted to put a second alternator on his Audi A6, there wasn't any parts, name brand or not - so we made one up with steel pieces, nuts, bolts and trial and error. And it was fun. And it worked, very very well. It didn't look like it should be in the engine bay of a German Luxury Car, but so what? It worked and served its purpose.

Some poeple insist on name brand parts (and the rediculous mark up on them) good for you, other people like to make things on their own, other people do a little of both. Whatever floats your boat!!!

But why does every "do it yourself" (and MPG/fuel efficency) thread at this site turn into a "if you can afford the car..............." thread?????????

I fabbed up a bunch of custom stuff for my maxima. BBK, custom welded exhaust, CAI etc, etc etc.

I wouldn't hesitate to do the same for my G35 if the right set of circumstances presented itself. So far I either got an awesome deal or I wasn't able/confortable in making the particular product.

I still might fab in a custom magnaflow resonated X pipe for my Borla.

37 replies? I take one day off and 37 replies? O.k. I'll take some pics today.

p.s. - I can afford an intake. The ebay ones look like cheap crap, and I haven't seen one that has the m.a.f. mount. The only really nice one I have seen in my buddy's injen. Basically, I just copied the z-tube/pop charger set up. I build stuff like this for a living, and couldn't bear to spend the money on it. The K&N was free, and the tube won't transfer any heat. So take that whoever.

not as exiting, but here are some muffler pics. This has to tide me over till I decide what to do with my exhaust. The plan right now is to pick up a used aftermarket stainless Y pipe with a 3" collector, and fabricate a 3" mandrel bent stainless exhaust using a magnaflow or borla resonator and silencer. Probably not much cheaper than buying one, but I'll get what I want. Anybody wanna through there 2cents in on this?
