And if you think an intake, and your muffler gave you gains... Try removing that 30lb suitcase (mid pipe) underneath your car first before you start welding eBay mufflers to it thinking it gave you any gains.
you must be a newbie into modding.

OP did some "custom" job for his 5hp gain and $200
you probably spent $1000+ for your 10hp gain.

Congrats, you are the weiner.

I never saw the point of getting $200 front strut bars, $700 exhaust, etc..
(well.. if you went FI, that's a whole different story)

but people who spent useless amount money on useless mods are idiots..

Thanks. I am an idiot.

I was kinda figuring that was the case, but I am totally clear now.

L.M.A.O, ok there... if you guys honestly think he got 5hp out of his $2.99 eBay muffler, and a PCV pipe intake... then watch out G35Driver, the rice boat should be arriving soon (if it already hasn't).

I wonder why not a single G35Driver vet. replied in here... because they're laughing to themselves, while I'm waisting my time talking to you nooblets around here.

Enjoy.

Not to argue but I think his point was everyone else spend quite a bit more $$ for the same dubious gains that he got for $200. Not that the OP actually got XX gains from his mods.

My brake ducts cost me $10. My IC to radiator ducting cost me ~$60. If I paid 10 times as much money for them and they had some fancy name brand on them, do you think they would function any differently? I'm not saying that everything can be done cheaply and still be effective and reliable, but spend it where it really counts. I have plenty of money into other parts of my car.

I knew how to fabricate it up, so why is it necessary to pay someone else to do it? You're just putting down the OP because he did not pay as much as most people for the mods he did. Can you truly point out something wrong with what he made? As for the pvc intake pipe, isn't the z-tube that's so popular just a more convoluted version that people swap on to reach the same goal (less disruption to the air stream)? Isn't the factory intake piping plastic? True it's probably ABS plastic instead of PVC, but what about it is so horrible? He didn't even specify exactly what muffler he put on his car, yet you keep bringing that up also and claiming that it's junk.

Sorry for dragging out a pointless argument. It just irked me that X-vert's bashing and labeling this rice might, even in the slightest, stiffle any creativity and freedom other people might have in thinking for themselves.

For those who are intersted, it is infact an abs intake pipe, that anyone with access to a medium sized lathe could make. I picked abs because I figured that's what most of the stuff underhood was anyway, so it would look right. It is nothing fancy, just a take off of a z-tube. The small tube fitting is actually pvc, but you just need to use the proper transition glue to set it in. If anyone wants some specs on how I did it, just ask, I'm not really into selling any. I guess if someone really wanted one, I could build them, but I have no idea yet what the cost would be.

I think if I was to do it for someone else, I would make the pipe a direct replacement for the stock pipe, as mine is quite a bit longer. I wanted my pipe to place the filter further down behind the headlight, something more like the injen intake, which I drooled over in my buddy's car. I had to make the fliter/maf mount from stainless plate, which was time consuming. I actually used steel tubing for the filter part, because I had no stainless tube on hand, but had the perfect size steel tube. That's why I had to paint it rather than polish or brush it.

Also, has anyone who put in a new intake removed the filter screen from in front of the sensor. I kinda chickened out and left it in, but I see no reason why I cant get rid of it. I have heard of other cars where the sensor was so sensititive you had to leave the screen in, but what have you all done?

Dont stress op... most of the people here would not DARE fab parts for their cars based on how afraid they are to break their babies... they are just jealous that you did something that they spend 200 bucks on for practically free... of course you are going to hear ****... dont take it personally... Mad props on the mods and having the gall to go with it...
