Besides knocking down doors to get stuff produced for our cars and creating some stuff myself (or getting someone to fab it for me), me and G35Lin established the Infiniti and then the G35 categories at all SoCal car shows, which set the precedent for the rest of the country.
I didn't say I give him all the potential HPs...just gave him props for trying stuff out.

I have repeated this test after supercharging my vehicle. I haven't had time to post a writeup, but the conclusion is similar. The AEM CAI is BARELY a better choice than simply buying a better filter with a stock box.
The supercharged intake tests were performed with no hood, not taking into account the thermal responsiveness of each system. In other words, the aftermarket metal tubes will hinder performance (however negligable) when compared with plastic, due to the heat transfer to intake air.
So nice work on the custom install Reagancherry. Don't listen to these guys "rice" comments. It might be ok to poke fun if you had a ferrari or something, but it's just a G! (can't wait for the response to that comment)
Next performance mod you should do: Removal of the factory Y-pipe/resonator/60poundweight. Good luck.

Oh, and PS. You should try to use PVC under the hood as it's temperature rating is higher. ABS will melt before PVC will. (Although ABS is lighter and lighter in color - thermally cooler)

Back in the day, we fashioned an intake for a Toyota Celica out of 4" furnace duct. We created a very-large "ram-air" style duct intake behind the front bumper. The results were astounding. Just because most of the members here love their G's so much that they want to use proven modification methods and keep stuff asthetically pleasing to their eyes, doesn't mean you shouldn't experiment. Play around, see what works best. I'd put money on the ability of a diy'er to outperform the "engineering" abilities of some of these aftermarket CAI systems. So keep playing. It would be great if you could acurately measure some of your results and share. That's how innovation works. You can't progress if you're too afraid to try something new. Good job. Cheers!

FWIW, i wasn't a dick. the guy in this thread was. i simply gave my opinion, that something that had transitions, instead of nice smooth bends, couldn't be as efficient. since the sharp angles would impede the airflow, it wouldn't be as functional as either the stock unit or the aftermarket CAI. if i was going to do a hombrew,(which before i got a sweet deal on one here
, i was going to do) i would simply do a fresh air, with no angles.just my opinion, i give kudos to anyone willing to do any sort of creative work... on their G or on their CIVIC.
