Bought myself a 2006 G35x...first impressions and a question

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and browsed around last night. There's a lot of excellent and useful information I've found already (the search feature really helps! ). Like a little kid and his toy, I've already bought clear side markers and a mid sized rear lid spoiler that matches the color of my car from ebay, both at a great price- I can't wait to get them.

So my first impressions of the car is that it's a fantastic ride . I'm still feeling it out and trying to break into it. I really miss my 2003 Nissan Maxima which had the titanium package that I had traded in for the G. The power between the two cars feels about the same although I felt my previous car was pretty bad @$$. One thing I've noticed specifically is that I'd hit about 2500 RPM's @ 70 mph while the G seems to hit 2750 @ about the same speed. I'm not sure if this is just the norm for the G or I have an engine problem being that I bought my car used . Maybe some of y'all can provide some input?

Thanks,

-Sizzo

Congrats on your new to you G.

I went from an 02 Max SE to an 05 G35X and this seems to be a common step amongst many Max owners. You will love your G.

The 05 G35X does rev a bit higher due to the different differential gearing. This is normal.

Enjoy your ride, I know I do.

Thanks Gee. It certainly seemed like the next logical step. My wife absolutely fell in love with the car during the test drive and she wasn't even driving it!

Btw, I actually misstated the yr of my car in the title- it is actually a 2006

I also noticed the engine speed on the highway. My last car with a V8 and 2.73 gears turned at much lower RPMs on the highway.

It's all about gearing. My Nissan 300zx (5spd) was running above 3k at 65mph and didn't pick up power until about 3700rpm. The G seems relatively unstrained in comparison.

Please don't install the ebay lid spoiler, from what ive seen, they don't reach all the way from on end of the trunk to the other, they are a bit a inch short at each end, but you'll make your decision when you get it, congrats, enjoy and goodluck...

re: mid sized rear lip

Thanks for the information guys. Now I feel a more at ease knowing that the car is driving normally.

Does anyone else have any experiences (negative or positive) re: lip sold on ebay?
