so my oil light flickers on when im stopping or going over a bumpy road. i changed my oil and now my service light is still on. does anyone know how i can turn this off?

 

man..when your oil light goes on..thats not a good thing because it means your engine is low on oil. as for the service light, it just needs to be reset.

 

I would go have the code checked at a local parts store.

 

low oil light doesn't indicate low oil level, however, it does indicate oil pressure low enough to harm the engine. Such low oil pressure could be caused by a lack of oil, but there may be several other causes.

 

yea i dont know why it comes on. my friend bought a g35 used around sept last year and has not even gotten an oil change yet, and i've already done my twice since i got my car in nov

 

i cant remember the code but there is a dtc that can come on if your oil light comes on. this might not work, but if you cant get someone to clear it you can unplug the battery for an hour or so. it doesnt always work but you can try it, its almost like a reset. or if it was just the oil some engine lights will go out on there own after the car resets, no all engine lights can reset themselfs. not much info or maybe common knowledge. if you give me the code i can check for reasons on alldata

 

I had the same problem not long ago, i had low oil and my service light came on. I had it changed and as stated in the manual the service light went off after a few driving trips.

I've been having the same problem. I have an 04 and which i hear arent suppose to have an oil consumption problem but im driving real conservative and still losing a qt every 1000 miles but every once and a while I'm losing at least 4 qt in about 2000 miles bcs under braking my oil light came on then the engine service light. pulled into autozone checked the oil nothing on the dip stick took little over 4 qts. the service light when off in like day and half 200 miles I notice im getting a serious vacume from the PCV valve. I change my PCV valve about every 2500 miles and i'm getting lower OC. I'm getting 22 miles all around gas mileage on premium and theres no oil around the head the engine bay is clean. I'm thinking theres a valve seal problem in these cars. I was having my cuz following me the other day to see if I was burning oil when the variable valve kicks in and we were pushing it a little and when i down **** from 4th to 3rd to about 5000 rpm get a temporay white smoke. I baby my car havent had any issues until about the last 6 mos now have a 128,000 miles and the power is still good have a couple creeks thats about it.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing

 

Back in the days when I first bought a car I had that problem a few years after ownership (oil light flickering) after checking the cheapest things, oil pressure sensor and wire shorting etc, it ended up being my oil pump. And yes it was expensive, so you may want to be prepared for that possibility.

 

How low is the oil when the oil light comes on?

 

The oil light in the G is triggered by the low oil pressure switch attached to the oil pan. The switch is triggered when there is NO oil pressure.

 

What does the low oil pressure light look like?
I keep getting a exclamation mark on the left end of the cluster come on everyday after about 25 minutes of driving to work on cruise control.
Is that something different?

 

That sounds like your tire pressure monitor sensor. I have the same thing. Comes on after about 30 miles of driving and if you keep driving will go out after another 30 miles.

 

The low oil pressure light is just a little oil can. The tire pressure light looks like this: (!). Do you have aftermarket wheels? If so do you have the tire sensors installed? If the light comes on after about 30-45 minutes of driving, it means the system cannot read the sensors. It resets each time you restart the car.
