Does my G have enough power? Can't spin'em!
Just got a 2005 G35X, love the car, real quick (past 3500 rpm) but the low end feels weak! Should I be able to spin the wheels at all from a dead stop, straight take off with VDC disabled? Can anyone? Just wondering if I have a power problem.
Remember, the car is stock. No mods, 5 speed automatic, base model sedan, UHP summer tires, but they are crap Primewell P900s (I think I'll beat the hell out of them this summer and get something worth having in October....)

Fist 12 MPH is AWD after that it converts to rear wheel.
You can however pull a fuse and make it RWD all the time, although I am not sure if this makes it any easier to peel out or if it gives faster intial gains.
But yeah you are right from my experience higher gains past 3500 rpm's.
Hard to pull out from a dead stop with out using the break and slamming the gas..

spinning tires is a function of power, but more importantly traction. i used to be able to lay black strips with my old honda civic but it had skinny little donuts for tires. you want good traction so you can put the power down to the ground, resulting in acceleration. your summer UHP tires are probably a soft compound, plus you are AWD. i'm afraid you'd need a lot more torque than in stock form to lay 4 black strips.
i can spin my tires if i wanted to (i'm 6mt rear drive). but then again, why would i want to?

You know your car is AWD right?? Gonna be pretty hard to spin the tires. You might be able to do it in the snow, with VDC off...but if you are expecting to do a F&F style AWD drift with a stock G35x, you are sorely mistaken.
Don't try to neutral drop or floor it while you hold the brake down either. Not gonna work so spare your car the abuse.
