2003.0 vs 2003.5 vs 2004

I am still a Noob. Decided I am going to buy a G35x. Probably will be newer than an 2003, but if I find one with low mileage who knows.

I have been working the search button and this is what I learned, I think

2003.5

1) Is the same as a 2004.0
2) Went from mech. fan to elec. fan
3) Doggy door dropped
4) stripped base (cloth interior, non-HID) no longer made
5) ECU major update
6) Began with VIN # ?????????

2004.5

1) Same as 2005
2) TCU now in the tranny
3) Begin with VIN (Sedan) F* 4M600001 or (Coupe)E4FM700001

Aren't the brakes on the 06x larger also? dual piston calipers up front?

Yep. 05Xs still have the small brakes where as the 05 RWD has the bigger brakes. (Compared them to a local guys 03.5 and you definatly see a size difference)

06 G35x was the only AWD model to get the larger brakes out of the first gen coupe/sedan.

06 changes over the 05 were: upgraded brakes on the X, upgraded navigation interface (runs on the 7.x DVD instead of 6.x like the 03-05), and bluetooth.

You get 18" sport wheels on the 05-06 sport models as well vs the 17" wheels on the 03-04.

It certainly will since the X didn't come out til 04. Sounds like 06 is the way to go (just for the brakes) if you can't afford a second gen (07+). Also, auto trannies got downshift rev-matching in 05, I believe.
