I WOULD NOT substitute with anything. $16 is highway robbery though. I get it locally in Kansas City for $10.50 a QT. Maybe consider ordering it?

Buy it online. Search and you will find threads on prices for this and the cheapest place to get it. I think cheapest is like $8 a quart.

A local dealer will never match an online retailer. They just don't care, they make their profit raping people off. Buy the ATF online. Best price found before shipping = $8.00 / qt

Yes, you are right it is local for you and it is a Nissan dealer. For what is local for me (East coast) I haven't been able to find one with a reasonable price. For obvious reason dealers in CA, being so close to Asia and being an important state for importation, they have manage to keep their costs low. Hence, offering lower prices.

it probably has a lot to do with the number of dealers in the area too (more competition = lower pricing)...

When I bought my G, I was moving to Sacramento area - instead of buying down here and driving it up (or trailering it up), I looked at the only dealer in the area (Roseville actually) - they wanted over 5K more than I could get it down here for I asked the sales manager why it would cost more up there if the cost of living was less? He said because they can, they are the only dealer around and people will pay it... he also stated the fact that so many dealers are down here they give more competitive pricing. Makes sense I guess (too bad everything else is so f-ing expensive)
