front

Offset: +30mm
Weight: 18.19lbs
Tire: 225/45/18

Rear
Size: 18x8.5
Offset: +33mm
Weight: 18.62lbs
Tire: 265/35/18

As you can see, the front has a larger sidewall than the rear... does that make sense? I have confirmed those are the right sizes...
Think I can explain, Its because the front tire is narrower. The 45 and 35 aren't messurments in the way you're thinking of them, they are ratio's. As in the 245/45/18 is 245mm wide and the side wall is 45% of that width and 18 inches for the wheel size. as the 235/35/18 the middle number is 35% of 235... Basically its because your tires are dif sizes and they have to be as close to te same hieght as possible or you're anti lock brakes along with a few other things won't work right. Because one set of tires would be spinning faster than the others...I'm going to say that again cause even as i read it it sounds funny, in the tire size the middle number is the ratio of sidewall to the width. (in car tires, I have never understood truck tire messurments) SO if you have a front tire thats 8 inches wide and a rear thats 8.5 inces wide in order for them to be the same dia. you have to have a ratio on the 8" tire slightly highier than the 8.5

Regardless, I think I'm going to run them for a while and then sell them or sell them right away and go 255.

You have to remember, add $50 or more to the shipping. Then add 13% for tax then add probably $50 for landing (depending on shipping company) Then the conversion to Canadian.

That's over $1000 Canadian. You're getting them at American prices in USD. Given the dollar is almost at par right now, but by the time I find the wheels it could have dropped or something.

Plus shipping, you have to wait and you never inspect the wheels first hand, all you have is photos. Not saying I don't trust sellers, but I prefer to buy first hand.

What tires came on your wheels for $700?
I bought it without tires, but it would have came with 245/40/18(f) 265/40/18(r) if i got them.

I am going to run 235/45/18(f) 265/40/18(r), the diameters have to be same because I am AWD. Either that or 245/40/18 all around, but i like the wide stance more.

max tire widths of tires is on the tire maker's website.

Checking the dia of the tire as to the front or oem is on the miata.net tire calc link.

Bestwat, so you got them with no tires. These are nearly brand new tires for $300 more, that makes these look great. Also, the tires that would have come with them would have been 265 as well. So it looks pretty common to run that fat then.

R35, yea I know it's a ratio, I just figured that kind of size difference wouldn't be evened out with that kind difference. the 35 to 45 is usually pretty substantial, but I guess a 225 to a 265 is a way greater difference than 10. I'm going to wait to see them and make my opinion then. I like the idea of running that fat rear tire. Everyone else who has run 265 on 8.5" has said it totally changes the feel and makes the car very well planted to the ground.

Alright. Rim and tire prices seem to have dropped just a tad over the last year. At least american brands have, Maybe they'll keep going that way.
