I feel like it doesn't even matter what oil you put, though I do use 0W-30 fully synthetic. haha.

for some reason my car doesnt like Edge. I went back to using Castrol Syn, the black container.

If he's using even a medicore synthetic, in all likelyhood, he's just fine. There might be a concern if he's entertaining a long change interval but that's about it.
