Bad tie rods? Bobbling noise in front of car

There is a bobbling noise, sounding like something is loose, inside the front of the car on the drivers side. It happens when im at low speeds (under 20mph) going over small bumps in the road or if im at a freeway speed and brake hard. Im not sure what it could be, I think it might be the tie rods. Anyone help me out?

First thing I'd check is the SHOCK MOUNTS. They go bad and sound like that when going over bumps.

How many miles do you have?

i'd say it might be the compression rod, as i have had the similar issue before... it might be loosen, in that case just tight it up, or it might be broken which requires a replacement. get a workshop checked for ya, not too complicated.

OP: torque down the three upper strut mount bolt "3" (12mm ones i think ) to spec. That is almost always the issue. If not attempt to push down on the front fender enough to compress the suspension and see if the main upper strut mount bolt is lose. You should be able to hear it or see it move slightly. Also your probably going to need a air tool to tighten that and if you lack experience allow a shop. If both of these are ok then move down and remove the wheel and look at the bushings to see if anything looks mangled or out of place. A lot of the time it can be your endlinks are no longer moving right so if you can pop them off and attempt to swirl them around they should move freely. Then go to the compression rod last, since its the most work to diagnose. You can remove it yourself to take a look at the bushing took me 10 minutes about and see what it looks like. Other then that maybe a blow shock, check for oil around the shock i guess. Thats all I can come up with from your description good luck hope that helps!

When the compression rod bushings go back you tend to SQUEAK over bumps and especially into turns. Depending on the tools you have and your ability, I'd replace just the bushings if those are bad. My guess is still on the strut mounts. More common than people realize.
