Parking brake light wont turn off
Yesterday I went to go set my parking brake (parked on a hill) and my foot accidentally slipped off of the pedal as I was engaging it. Well, the pedal being spring loaded and my foot slipping off it, caused it to spring back up FAST. The parking brake itself still works fine, however, the dashboard light is always on now even when its disengaged. Im sure the brake sensor just moved, because if I pull up on the pedal with my hand just slightly, it will turn off the light.
I havent had a chance to look at it yet. Anybody know what I should be looking for under there? Hopefully its an easy fix.

Hey i had this problem over last summer and it was caused by my foot slipping off of the pedal, if you look under the dash and follow the brake pedal up, you will notice a little black box that looks like it has a sensor on the end, pull it back down towards the pedal and you should be fine, the sensor gets knocked upwards from the pedal when your foot slipped off, was a really easy fix but kind of hard to see the sensor..... that light was driving me crazy and i almost took it to the dealer when i decided just to look at the pedal itself.
i can take a picture if you cant get it.....

Add me to the list... Wife called all freaked out that the Brake light was on - I had just done the rear brakes 2 weeks prior, so I was worried too.
Got in the G and immediately noticed that when releasing the parking brake the light would flicker and pushing the pedal up with my foot turned the light off. Now I gotta go crawl under there and take a look.

just to update this thread....I actually broke the clip that holds the switch in place. Theres no easy way of securely mounting it without the clip. So between going to the dealer and buying a new switch, I just ended up disconnecting the wires and the light turned off. I just have to remember to disengage the parking brake (rarely used anyway) without the warning light.

This same thing happened to me 2 weeks after driving my G off the lot. Unfortunately this turned my new car experience into my worst nightmare. Long story I took it to the dealer, and the dumb ****** #@$ers actually tightened the parking brake to the point it was actually applied while driving, and ruined my entire rear braking system. Since then I have new rotors/pads/shoes, but it doesnt feel the same.

Great post here. I had my light on forever and fixed it in 30 seconds after reading this post. Follow the emergency brake up and you will see a switch like the one you have for car door to turn off your dome lights. Just move it back into position all your G is 100% again.
Thanks!!

Wish I read this before I spent 15 minutes adjusting the tension with my good old 10 mm.
5 seconds to pull it back into place. Just grab the plastic piece for anyone else who runs into this. Almost no force needed.
