Getting adapter rails is the issue.
But Sparco offers a kit that's (I assume) everything you need to mount a Sparco seat in a G35. Couldn't one use that kit and mount the Recaro instead?

Not w/o some custom work
IIRC, Recaro does not mate to Sparco rails

Second hand info:
The seats are ~120-130lbs. A racing seat will be like 20-30. The power motors, airbags and heaters weigh a lot!

So I got the coupe drivers seat in and was able to get all the controls to work with some re-wiring but there are still 4 wires on the coupe seat harness that are not connected and my airbag light is flashing. I am trying to find someone with a coupe ESM that can look up what those wires are for me. My ESM is only for the sedan.

There have been quite a few threads on this site dedicated to this topic, although most folks who find the seat uncomfortable are complaining about leg discomfort while for me it is the upper right side of the back rest causing lat pain. Although I've only owned the car two months, I think I'm going to trade it in and take the financial hit. Not real happy about it to say the least, but driving what for me amounts to a torture-mobile just doesn't make a lot of sense.

I did take the vehicle back to the dealer and they told me they had never encountered anyone complaining about back pain (they must not track sites like this). They seemed helpful and even put a new seat in the vehicle at no charge to me. But I still have the same problem. Hard to imagine my size (6' 1", 190 lbs) is too large for the vehicle.

When I test drove the car, I didn't notice any discomfort with the seat... and I loved (and still do) everything else about the G. I've owned many vehicles over the years and do not even consider seat comfort when purchasing (until now). I can't think of a single car I have ever owned or drived that I found so incredibly uncomfortable.

Compounding my own problem, a good buddy of mine also bought a G35 a couple weeks after I bought mine because he liked it so much. He is also now complaining about seat discomfort.

To the extent anyone who is considering purchasing a G reads this post I would strongly encourage them to somehow get hold of the vehicle for a week or so before purchasing. As I noted above, I absolutely love everything about the car except the driver's seat. Unfortunately for me, that means that I'm probably going to take a $5k hit.

is ur wallet in your back pocket? if it is try takin it out and sitting up right play with the seat combinations...and move the steering wheel chances are its not the car, really check out a chiropractor for 50 bucks b4 you like 5k! it could be something on you not the car good luck

I forgot to post an update. I was able to get both the coupe seats in with no other problems. Once I reset the airbag control module everything is working great now.

The pass. seat sits a bit low. The driver still has up/down control so it is not a problem there. I need to look into bringing the pass. seat up a little. My GF is 5'2" and does not like how low it is. Worst case I will put the old sedan one back in on that side.

I'm bringing this thread back becuase recently I started to feel lower right back pain. I never had this problem until I start driving my G (coupe).
Although, this could also cause by other things, but reason I brought it up becuase during a long drive in G I often feel discomfort in my lower back.
I tried adjusting the seats but it still doesn't seem to work.

I'm going to see an orthopdic doctor specialize in back on Thursday, hopefully nothing major is going on.......

Doing alot of miles in my G sedan have been pretty comfy. The only thing I wonder about is adding a block to the dead pedal(I think that is what they call the resting block for your left foot), seems like a 1/2-3/4" block would balance my leg extension out with the gas pedal and reduce fatigue on my hips. The chiroprator keeps sayin my hips have been off. Otherwise luvin G-life.

I agree with Xer, the dead pedal is way too far foward, and needs to be build up more like 2".

Stillen makes a replacemetn dead pedal for coupes, but not sedans

I'm sure you can use that dead pedal extension in a sedan as well as a coupe..
Stillen says their license plate bracket is for coupe and I use one for my sedan..
