2005 G35 Sedan Production Pics
Re: 2005 G35 Sedan Production Pics
people..damn...just chill
stop flaming each others, the styling is just personal preference.
I am sure Infiniti did the research from both existing G owners and potential future owners before they redesign the way the 05 is. I remembered the 03/04 people complained about the rather "cheap" looking plastic interior when compare to Acura or BMW, and some people complained about the seat comfort. Also about the lower black sills. Now Infiniti has addressed those items in the wish lists from existing and future G owners.
So if you like the 03/04..fine
and if you like the 05 more, that's fine too
Damn it, like Sukairain said, flame on the 330i or something....
please don't flame me b/c I love the 3 series, just a figure of speech.

Dbarnes...
I'm not a wannabe, nor a maybe, nor a probably not, nor do I have empty pockets. I am someone who's been in the market for a car since August, and was pressed with the decision...04 or 05 G35. I chose to wait for the 05. Period.
All you "commodities" who critisize the 05's "softness", "paper horsepower", this, and that....how does that make you better than those who bash the 03/04?
It doesn't.
I basically stated a fact...based on this and other forums, more people prefer the 05 styling to the 04, inside & out. Those who do not (or at least say they don't) are 99.9% 03/04 owners, many of which who probably WISH they waited.

From dirrtybear: "Fireball...since when does the coupe have 4 doors?"
dirrtybear,
Look at these two pics from the Infiniti News website.

The second pic shows seats that are more heavily bolstered, at the shoulders, along with the raised center portion of the driver's seat cushion being rounded. There's also different door panel treatments. The door pulls in the coupe are straight and angled more steeply than the sedan's (the sedan's curve into the armrests). Also, notice the cutout in the passenger door panel for a water bottle not to mention the round speaker grills? All of this leads me to believe this is the '05 coupe's interior.
To prove the website's lack of attention, they show this pic for the coupe which is definetly the sedan:

2004.5 Diamond Graphite/Graphite G35 6MT Sedan
Premium Package • Navigation • Splash guards • 350Z intake duct • Stillen high-flow airbox • Underbody diffusers

Sukairain, were the rear tail lights flush, or was there a slght bubble or flair on the side? in some pics it looks like it flairs out a little with the contour of the light and in some angles it looks flush.

If you are not a wannabe, or a maybe, or a probably not, then obviously this post was not directed at you. If you choose to wait for the '05, more power to you. I personally don't care what you buy.
I never bashed the '03 or '04, nor am I "bashing" the '05 - just saying I don't care for the changes I've seen thus far, but will reserve final opinion until I personally see the car, and drive it (like any reasonably intelligent person would do).
I WAS bashing the people who continue to put down the opinions of PRESENT owners of G35's for voicing our opinions about the restyling, in some twisted way inferring that our opinions don't matter, because we already own one, or our opinions are strongly biased BECAUSE we own one. Well of course our opinions are biased, because we are knowledgeable and informed - we OWN one, and know of what we speak. Just like when my neighbor tells me that a particular NBA player "sucks", but then Michael Jordan says he's a very good player - who the hell's opinion do you think I respect - "wannabe" neighbor's, or "been there - done that" Michael's ?? Pretty simple, eh?
I assure you that OUR opinions matter FAR more than the opinions of Non-owners to Infiniti - as we have PROVEN to them that we are real buyers, whereas the rest are Wannabe's, Maybe's, Never Gonna's - and you are presently in that group, like it or not. Buy one, drive it awhile, then the rest of us will have respect for your INFORMED opinion about the car, and any changes that may come down the pike after you buy.
Again - you have the right to your opinion, regardless of whether you buy one or not, but your status as a Non Owner will not command respect or attention from actual owners.
I don't WISH I'd waited - I live in the present and enjoy what I want NOW - there will always be something better coming down the pike, and I'll buy another car whenever I am ready and want to. If I like the '05, I'll buy it - if not, then I keep my '04, and I don't "envy" the guy at the stoplight with the '05 at all. I try not to WISH for such silly things.
I don't know if the horsepower is "paper" or not, but I do know that the photos I've seen thus far definitely show a "softer", rounder front end - anyone with eyes can see that - but you are entitled to your opinion, so if you want to say the new look is "harder", or sharper and more "edgy", then go ahead.
By the way "more people prefer the styling" ?? They haven't even seen the damned car in person yet - another bunch of "informed" consumers, eh?
Have fun with whatever car you buy, and if it's a "G", welcome to the club, whenever you join. But don't assume we are all WISHING for your ride.
By the way, the word "commodities" refers to articles of commerce, which, since the abolition of slavery in the US, has ceased to refer to human beings.
Have a nice day (or not, if you have other plans).

Re: 2005 G35 Sedan Production Pics
dbarnes...
I've been saying all along, I'm basing my opinions on pictures and articles (of the 05). I'm also basing my opinions of the 04 on pictures, articles, and test drives. I too will reserve final judgement until I see it in person, but based on pictures, I'm pretty confident in my choice.
Your Michael Jordan analogy is completely off-base, btw. There are certain facts about cars that are...well, facts. How fast is it? How's the gas mileage? An automotive engineer can make the same decisions based on these facts as Joe Car-buyer. There are other attributes of a car that are 100% subjective. Obviously -- looks. Perhaps ergonomics. Again, you can't tell me what looks good and state it as a fact. It doesn't take an 03/04 owner to determine what looks good.
Your opinions ARE biased. Yes, because you own one. You, like many others, bought it because you liked the looks of the car. You bought the car recently. I'm going to assume that you're still in love with it -- as you should be.
I never argued whos opinions matter more to Infiniti. I don't know. Frankly, I don't care.
I said more people prefer the styling, BASED on the pictures. And everyone that I know that has actually SEEN the car (including the originator of this thread) prefers the styling of the 05.
I never said that you ALL wish you had an 05. In fact, I never said many things you imply that I did. You took the time to reply to my post in length and detail. Please read my post more carefully next time before doing so.

Dirrtybear:
I apologize to you if you think the whole of my post(s) were aimed directly at you - there were an absolute plethora of people responding and slamming us present "G" owners for our opinions, and I have to jump in SOMEWHERE, if I want to be heard, so I guess it was after reading one of your particular posts that I clicked on "reply" - I thought I made it clear that I was talking to EVERYONE who said or felt that way, not you in particular (I also don't know how to bold or italicize words in these posts, so I have to capitalize for emphasis - I am NOT yelling at you, FYI). I'm sure that something in your post was addressed in my original "reply", but I used that as a springboard to be heard on the entire subject, and to respond to the others as well.
As regards the NBA/Michael Jordan analogy - you are correct, but that's just all the more fuel for MY fire, i.e., "how fast is it? how's the gas mileage?, etc. - THESE are the very things that are freaking UNKNOWN about the '05 - yet people (I'm sure not YOU) have been "deciding" that the '05 is superior based upon horsepower figures and other small changes that may or may not be factual. As far as the looks, that's subjective - buy what you want, but as regards crowing about how the '05 is going to be a superior performer to the '03 or '04 - that's bullshit until the car arrives, and the tests are done, period.
That's why I got my back up over this crap - all the clowns on this thread just shooting off about something they know absolutely nothing about (they don't OWN one), and have no empirical data at ALL on the '05, yet proclaim the '05's superiority based upon some freakin' photos and the PR departments release of horsepower numbers - and then bashing those of us who DO own one and at least know what we are talking about when it comes to 50% of the debate - the other 50% again remaining untested and unavailable to do so yet!
By the way, I'm a Realtor, and if you make your buying decisions based upon a PHOTO, then I've got a couple of "choice" properties for you. I don't think that's the case, though, I think you're smarter than that. IF I didn't own a "G" yet, I'd probably hold off to test drive the 05 before buying, but I wouldn't wait long, so that I could still ****** up a leftover '04 if I decided I didn't like the '05. That's what I did in 1991 when I bought my Pontiac SSE - I looked at and drove the radically changed '92 models, and then RAN to the dealership that still had the color combo I wanted in the much better looking '91, which I then bought, and still sits amongst my collection now. One final thing - I remember how everybody thought the 1964 Corvette Stingray was much better looking after they got rid of the ugly split rear window - now who's laughing there ?? Could be the '03 "doggie door" trunk lid becomes the most desirable model in another 20-25 years, and then look who's laughing.
I still meant everything I said in my prior posts, just didn't mean for you to feel that all comments were directly addressed to you! Please re-read MY posts, and I'm sure you'll see that as well.
Enjoy whatever you end up buying - I wish you the best.

The new tail lights have alittle 3D effect on the outer circular LED ring. It's smooth and subtle, but adds a nice effect to the tail lights. You can tell from the profile and at 3/4 view.

Ok, I think we understand each other now.
As to the performance of the 05, who knows. Right now, it is just stats on paper. On paper, the 05 should be faster in str8-line acceleration, and the 04 should handle better. But I guess we'll all have to wait & see.
My buying decision (still not 100% yet) was largely based on test driving the 04 6MT. I then saw the changes to the 05, and decided it was something worth waiting for. Someone earlier said that the cosmetic differences aren't that big. I agree, especially to someone who's not even that familiar with the car. I on the other hand, have studied every line on the 04 G Sedan (I've had my eye on this car for about a year now), and any differences will stand out to me.
Who knows, maybe I'll see the 05 in person and something doesn't catch my eye right, and I end up waiting til fall of next year for the next Lexus IS.

You should check out the pics. Looks kinda hot. Not 100% sure if the pics will be the final product.
300hp, RWD, with a smaller frame than the G Sedan (perhaps lighter). Sounds tempting.
