Brake shutter is back, at 45k I had my rotors resurfaced and pads sanded lightly. Everything was good until now (63k) its bad just slowing down on the highway. Bleh (OEM Pads at 32k) and I believe OEM Rotors that came with the car in 05.

 

What sized sockets are needed to remove the Rotor?

To move the Piston over to get to the pads its 14mm(20ft lbs)? What MM to remove the Torque members to get the Caliper/Piston out of the way? What Torque setting should they be torqued back too?

Edit: Ok I got the torque Specs, Just need the sizes

 

They're different front and back.
I think the front is 22 and the back is either 19 or 20 IIRC

So I need to use Brake Cleaner (right? ) and a wire brush to clean off the old grease from the back of the pads, Shims and apply new grease.


What type of grease is best for this application?

Pad< Shims < Shim Cover

"<" = Where to apply Grease , I have to apply a thin layer and give it some time to dry so that it does not get pushed out.


Also I should clean the hub(where the rotor sits on) and the inside of the Rotor right? Do I put any grease here?

 

There's greases specific for brakes

 

in bythebays video they used Synthetic Caliper Grease, I just wanted to know what you or what everyone was using.

They said not to use Brake Quiet or something like that?

I have done some googling and that one is rubber safe and people at BITOG like it. They sell it at napa or at Autozone in the small packets, and O'Riley but we dont have them down here.


So what needs Lubin? #1 Sliding Pins, #10 Shims, .... ?

 

^Nah, it wasn't that one... I don't remember, but it was green I think.


I lubed absolutely EVERYTHING except the surface of the pad itself. Whole back of the pad, the edges where it snaps in, pins, all of it.

Question I wanna buy either magnaflow muffler or the HKS will I pass emissions if I do?

For doing a brake fluid change with three people

Suck out old fluid and pour new fluid in- Have Person A watch fluid level

Get Person B and get them to hold the brake down.

Person C opens the bleeder bolt (10mm) with a plastic tube over it(anyone know what size? )

Then when no more fluid comes out, Tighten the bleeder then get Person B to pump the brakes while Person A makes sure fluid level stays good.

Then Start over again by loosening the bleeder.

Pump Pedal
Loosen Bleeder
Tighten Bleeder
Lift and start pumping.

Do this until clear fluid is coming out?
