As said in my post, the Door jam doesn't show curb weight, it shows GVWR. If your car is different please inform.

I don't have a sales brochure, do you actually have one?

Straight out of the owners manual as well:

DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHTS
Gross vehicle weight rating lb (kg):
See the F.M.V.S.S. certification
label on the driver’s side lock
pillar.

Not that these are 100% correct either, but here's what KBB lists:

Coupe 6MT: 3416
Sedan 6MT: 3336

Autos.msn lists:

Coupe 5AT: 3416 (Interesting that this is what KBB says the MT weighs)
Coupe 5AT w/leather: 3422
Coupe 6MT w/leather: 3435

Sedan 5AT: 3336 (again, what KBB says the MT weighs)
Sedan 5AT w/leather: 3369
Sedan 6MT w/leather: 3398

That's on a 2003 mind you.
Obviously, it's going to depend greatly on the equipment. If you compare a loaded out sedan to a bone-stock no-option coupe, the coupe is probably lighter, provided same year and same transmission.
Another thing to consider is that the curb weight given is with the low-end 16's and 205s on the Sedan, and those are probably a lot lighter than the 17's with 225/235s on the coupe.

When you boil it down, that's still only right at 100lb spread across the board.

What, if any, are the replacement options for the shocks on my 2005 G35x?

I'm planning on lowering my car soon, and at 172,000 kms, I'm pretty sure my stock shocks wouldn't last too long.

I know I can replace them with OEM, but I'm just wondering what aftermarket options are available for the X.

That should not be correct, unless they made the 06 AWD lighter then the 05. The 06 AWD got bigger and heavier calipers and rotors. That alone should be about a 5lb difference. But its a good idea for a ballpark number.

yes, I have several brochures - it's it the specs section under capacities and weights...

Curb weight for 04 sedan AT is 3336, w/leather its 3369... MT is 3398 and AWD X is 3677...

2005: 3468, MT 3512, AWD 3650

2006: 3497, Journey 3508, AWD 3704, Sport 3538, Sport MT 3532

As for GVWR, the ratio is still the same (coupe to sedan, MT to AT) which is what you were concerned about. Whether it's curb weight or GVWR should make no difference in determining which car is heavier.

When there's 4 seats in the sedan and 2 seats in the coupe? The added 3 passengers makes a huge difference I should think, unless I"m mistaken on how they calculate the Gross weight, I always thoguht roughly it's 200lbs per passenger plus some cargo.

^ There are 4 seats in the coupe, just like the sedan. The only difference is with the coupe you can't have an additional passenger in the middle in the back seats. Well, unless they want to sit on hard plastic

it's real simple dude - either use the curb weights listed or do some simple math and subtract the extra passengers.

Is this about you really wanting to know if the sedan is truly lighter or more about you wanting to bicker about BS?

You have plenty of info given to answer the concerns you have/had... are you really going to carry on about why the info you have received is too hard to determine your answer?

BTW, the coupe has rear seats too... so I guess you need to start a new post to determine how many passengers the coupe GVWR is considering

I think it's funny that the sedans have a tow capacity and the coupes don't when they have pretty much the exact same ability (or lack thereof) to tow something.

as to weight comparisons - unless both cars are bone stock, it doenst matter what the brochure, door jam or any other manufactures claims say, the cars will weigh different once modified... in fact even stock, there are variables such as full size or donut spare, what size (and material) wheels, etc...

The true way to know what your car weighs (alone or in comparison to another) is just get on a scale. And if you (in general, meaning anyone) really cared about their car's weight, that's what they would do. Many of us have. > it's not as exciting as interwebz study, but it's definitely more relevant.

Dont think the attitude is necessary dude. I was responding to others, that's all. I already found my answer with the help of Dr.D69's link. I charted the info I found for everyone else who seemed curious as well to help.

I found all I wanted to know a while back, it was others who kept things going sorry you have some issue with people inquiring a little deeper?
I never once said I had a problem with the results found AFTER the Wikipedia results were dismissed by a better resource.
I could care less which car weighs more the difference is negligable the only reason I even mentioned that was to disprove the Wikipedia weights that were originally the only resource found that specified the actual weight of the 1st gens.

I'm not bickering at all dude, you need to do some breathing exercises or something. I NEVER asked for Gross weight, I wanted ACTUAL weight, not the Registered weight, which doesn't accurately reflect ACTUAL curb weight.

I'm over it a long time ago
