2006 G35X with about 86,000 miles.
I dont use my manu-matic mode too crazy often, but every now and then I have an issue when trying to downshift and Im not sure what would cause it since it isnt consistant. I will try and continue to test it further and pay more attention to when it happens, but for now maybe I can get some help with the information I have currently.
As far as I know, only when I try and downshift I will sometimes have the transmission do nothing. I recall it almost always happening when trying to go from 4th to 3rd and no matter how i move the shifter it just acts like I didnt touch a thing. Going back up shifting and I think it works perfectly, but during the times it wont downshift the only way it does drop gears is when i slow down enough for the RPMs to drop way low and it forces itself to auto downshift. I think after it does downshift I might again have the problem going down to 2nd. Then it usually works fine again after going back up.
This may only happen once during a full driving session and doesnt always happen. It only has happened in the middle of a driving session, never been the very first time I try and downshift when in manu-matic mode.
Im not sure how the whole system works, but could there be some sensor or something in the stick that is dirty or has bad contacts to not register my downshift? I initially considered it to be a wiring or grounding problem, but with it so inconsistant and rarely happening I wouldnt think thats the issue.
Is this something thats best to explain to the dealer so they can look into certain components for possibly a quick fix?
Its not like its an immediate need to get fixed since everything works fine when in drive, but this would be nice to have working correctly so I can drive in manu-matic whenever I want and not be annoyed by it.

08 350z HR y pipe and mid pipe on 2003 g35 sedan
Hey all
I really didn't want to make this thread but I have searched and searched to no avail.
Long story short I've been able to get my hands on a 08 350z HR y pipe and mid pipe for uber cheap.
I know that the 350z HR y pipe will fit with no issues AND that the 350z mid pipe is too short for the sedan.
Extensions can be bought to fit the 350z mid pipe on the g35 sedan, the problem is I have seen BOTH answers of 6" or 8" extensions are needed...
I'm about to pull the trigger on a 6" extension but I just want to make sure 6" is enough before buying it.
The 2" discrepancy seems a bit much so I don't think I can just make it fit if its a full 2" off can I?
Can anyone confirm whether I'll be ok with the 6" extension or do I need the 8"?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi i have a 2005 g35x (awd) and i have numerous lights on my dash. (AWD, abs, vcd, slip, and service engine) i read up on it and most ppl say that i need new brakes/rotors or pads, and/or i need to either clean or replace one of my speed sensors and i was wondering if u had any other ideas or any input on what maybe wrong with my car ?

Anyway I'm just curious how it works, because it's also a daytime running light which powers at half and then turns into a fog light at full power without blinding anyone. Is there a shield that comes on and off as the high beams are applied??
I wanna know now because that means I can run a bi xennon setup with the hid's being at full power when I need to put on my high beams.

getting bad mpg
I recently purchased an 06 Infiniti G35 and i really like the car, however i am only getting 19 mpg hwy. i have a jimwolftech cold air intake and aftermaket exhaust (not real sure what kind yet). the car has been lowered and has aftermarket sway bars. it also has 20" wheels with 245/35r20 tires. it has 3.5 with 60,00 miles and 6 speed manual. i figure the larger chrome wheels are killing my mpg. but do you think it is time to change plugs. i don't have a maintaince manual

Stock lines and banjo bolts are supposed to work with Akebono's.

And Z1 also states here under Installation Notes
http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35...oducts_id=4626
"If your Z/G was not equipped with the factory Brembo brake kit, it is highly recommended that you either purchase the Z1 SS Brake Lines or select the Banjo Bolt option below. The factory banjo bolts are too long and will not seal properly. "
Why would other places sell the BBK as a bolt on kit without mentioning this though?
So now I have conflicting stories. But either I need the bolt or I don't. Which one is the right one?
