Maybe this is coincidental and it just bit the dust. I kneeled down beside it while locking the doors a few times after and it doesn't sound like it's even firing. I've got some troubleshooting to do.

This was my solution. It actually works as originally intended haha. My actuator works just fine.
Sorry!

Technically there's no load on the rings and they're basically just for aligning the wheel when mounting so.... either would work. If you plan on tracking the vehicle or are notorious for being VERY hard on the brakes then I wouldn't even consider plastic due to the heat they would experience (might melt). Personally I would go aluminum because it seems a little chinsy to use plastic ones, actually let me rephrase that, personally I have hubcentric spacers so I don't need to use rings so...

What exact year/chassis/package is your vehicle (ex. '06 coupe premium) it's also possible to clean the switch which usually helps. Remove the switch from the seat, unplug the harness, then on a work bench open the plastic housing for the switch (just depress a few plastic tabs with a flat blade screwdriver). Get on a pair of nitrile gloves in a well ventilated area and spray it down with electrical contact cleaner. Once it has evaporated use silicone grease to LIGHTLY lubricate the plastic hinge points of the switch (use a toothpick to keep it only on the hinges) and reassemble.
