Uhh...no. That's not normal. I was looking at the gas mileage thread and some of the numbers were consistent with what I got 2 months ago. Again, I own a Z which is a gas guzzler and by no means am cheaping out.

gQstatus, is it possibly stuck in AWD? No way that you should be getting 10 mpg under those conditions.

I would check the air filter, and the plugs for sure. Injectors could be dirty as well.

If that's normal mileage in a X, I'm glad to own a coupe as I get 19-20 mostly in town driving. My full size truck gets close to 16 in town.

You can call me George (made that username years ago when I was in my single phase; don't ask). The air filter is brand new (about 1 to 2 months old).

I'm planning on changing out the plugs with NGK (best they have for our cars). The oil change was just done last week (Wednesday) and replaced with Mobile 1 Full Synthetic. Aforementioned, I'm very **** with my habits and only fill up at BP gas stations (for far trips I just rent a car). I'm looking at filling up again tomorrow after filling my gas tank yesterday. This is driving me mad. I thought my Z was going to be my gold digger but it looks like this car is taking the cake.

I just read this article/thread on the ECU reset and keeping the car under a certain RPM to program the car to give up some HP for gas economy. I'll have to drive it like a grandma.

I have read several posts about oil consumption and fouled plugs.

Injector cleaning by a pro shop could help if your plugs are ok (not an additive).

That's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject.

I try several gas stations & chart what mileage I get. Ironically my current tank is from BP. I'm at 148 miles and just hit my 1/2 tank mark. They charge +.55 for 91 when others charge +.25 to +.40 for their premium.

Thanks. Time to rip into the car this weekend and get some work done. I didn't want to start hacking at it until I got some advice from people who are familiar with this car. I have a lot of reading to do. I'm mechanically inclined so I can do all the work myself. Going to have to search for the Factory Service Manual on eBay.

FYI - the marks on the gauge are not accurate. Furthermore, the light comes on when you still have 3 to 4 gallons in the tank.
Do a real full tank (or better yet multi tank) mileage calculation for real tangible result.

Also remember to check your tires. You've checked the plugs, changed the oil, etc... but not enough air in the tires will reduce your MPG pretty dramatically, depending on the tire.

I'm using Hankook tires which are about 1 to 1.5 years old. Tires still have plenty of life left. I verified it with a write up on Tirerack's website.

Last night I did the ECU and Pedal reset. I noticed that the gas hasn't been burning as much as it previously has. It could be the placebo effect so I'll wait until tomorrow to test this out when I go to class. So far I'm at 140 miles w/ a hair under half a tank. I'm going to search online for an OEM distributor where I can buy OEM parts online. I have a website for my Honda, 300ZX and now to find one for this car.

Anyone know a website where I can buy OEM parts at discount?

Horribly atrocious gas mileage. Need Advice.

maybe your fuel sending units are dirty or bad I am having issues now with my 06 where it will never drop below 1/4 tank i was almost left without gas last week i though i had a 1/4 tank but i when i refueled it took more than 17 gallons.

Definitely not my issue. Your fuel sending unit seems like the culprit. I'm not sure how easy/hard it is to change on a G35x. Since I've owned the car my gas light came on and I was about 2 lines above the E. I didn't fill up at a random spot since I'm adament on never switching my gas companies. I made it to BP and filled up. It took about $60 worth but I need to pay attention to the gallons. I believe it was 13-14 gallons.

You didnt tell your actual gas mileage. When your tank is full zero out the miles. When you refill go to the same pump at the same station. Miles÷gallons=mpg. Come back with the number and we can tell you if it normal for this car.

Anyone know how accurate the nav system is in telling you your mpg? Mine says I'm getting about 17 mpg, which I believe is terrible lol.
