RPM drops when rolling down/up windows
Hi guys and gals,
I've been noticing that my engine's rpm drops a bit when I'm rolling up/down my windows. I guess in a way when power from battery is invoked.
Do you have the same problem (or is it a problem at all)?
If so, what can I do to fix the issue? grounding kit? new battery?
Thanks!!
Kevin

Any kind of drain on the battery will affect the RPM idle a little.
Are you on the standard battery? They are known for not lasting much more than 4 years. I bought my 04 in 08 and had to replace the battery 6 months later.
Duralasts are cheap enough, but still very decent batteries. Some people will say to get an Optima, but IMHO I can't justify the cost anymore. Their prices have raised too much.

Keep an eye on your clock. When it fails to tell time properly, it is a good indication that your battery is on its way to the grave yard. The clock will be noticeably slow, i'm not talking 1 or 2 minutes.. more like 15!
Otherwise, if you haven't replaced the battery in 3-4 years, in my opinion its cheap insurance to (as Nike used to say) just do it.

hahaha
but on the topic, this is fairly normal. If you are at idle and you draw power from an accessory youll notice the rpm drop a bit. If you are driving and you use your power windows and the lights dim or something drastic then i would go get a new battery. otherwise this isnt something i'd be concerned with

I know i am resurrecting this post, but I am having he same exact problem and sometimes my car stalls when i first turn it on. It has the same exact symptoms as yours too, open the window, rpm drops about 500....Did you figure out what it is..I just changed my battery less than 3 months ago... Your help and knowledge is very appreciated
Consider yourself lucky you're not paying CA gas prices, it like having a drain on your wallet.

What are CA gas prices like? I'm in Toronto Canada and it's about $1.42 a liter for 94 octane and about $1.22 for 87 octane. 1 gallon = 4 liters.
1 gallon is 3.78 liters, so your 94 would be $5.37/gallon. But they only go as high as 91 octane in CA, so that's not a fair comparison.
$4.61/gallon for 87 octane which is $4.54/gallon in US dollars.
